TCM update?

Hello guys,I went to the dealer today,complaining about the 1-2 shift,and I was told there is a update for it,but I have to pay for it .is it worth the money,anyone have done this?

What? If it's a campaign, you do not have to pay. I just had this done, I'm out of warranty and I didn't pay.

What was the issue with the 1 > 2 upshift?

it is a hard shift ,it is a clunk when I almost come to a stop and get back on the gas .dealer could not tell me if it will help,but I will try to get it for free now.I guess you have to go there prepared.

Theirs a recall on the TCM, call Audi Corporations and find out if your car is under the recall protocol. I've the same car and mines is currently in the shop for this reason along with the driverside airbag sensor. Hope this helps

I called Audi Canada,this morning,and they say it is not a recall it is an update,so I have to pay for it,but there is a recall on a fuel injector leak. that is covered ..

2 weeks now ,since the update,and no better on up or downshift,called dealer and they are clueless .I will do some more digging for info. I narrowed down to the 2nd gear,clunk is getting worst ,So far I could not find anybody with same problem.?

Does the shift take longer from 1-2 as well?

BKN718 do you have any information on the recall? Any reference numbers, service bulletin numbers?

Yes it is a slower shift,but you have a different tranny dont you?

It sound like the issue I am having. I did the TCM upgrade and it didn't help. Called audi regarding it again, they checked tranny fluid, said its fine, and decided to replace Mechatronic. 3 weeks later and it arrived from Germany, scheduled for a replacement on Monday.

Hi trezur. Yes Mechatronic was replaced. Car has completely changed and is now pleasure to drive. Kicking/downshifting is no longer a problem, car also became more responsive.
During the Mech replacement they also changed seals and 11 liters of tranny fluid. If you like I can pm you a copy of the mechanics' note explaining what was done with some numbers.

This was on your 2013 A6 with 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox?

apparently ,ihorc and I are the only ones with this problem on a ZF 8-speed.

I'm in a 2012 A6 and most of the time I find the shifting to be acceptable, but on occasion I get a really rough shift if I'm decelerating (like to a red light), come almost to a complete stop, and then accelerate. Sometimes its worse than others, but I do get the "that can't be right" feeling. Is that what you're describing here?

My 2009 3.2 has that problem. No help from Audi? I've received suggestions from other sites ranging from adding STP to the trans fluid to cleanig the MAF sensor.

I have a 2015 a7, and i seemed to have this issue where if I’m accelerating and take my foot off the gas arond 1-2 it like shakes my whole car and first time it happened i was like WTF……

When i got a tcu tune it never happened again. So based on my very dumb knowledge… its the way the audi trans is programed maybe????

But again I’m not a wrench turner (yet) and dont have any other evidence beyond the tcu tune
