    Replacement driveshaft wont fit

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I purchased a replacement driveshaft since my carrier bearing went Kaput. The replacement shaft is slightly too long - by approximately 5 MM. I am wondering if they sent me an auto ds instead but someone told me these are actually shorter?

Any trick to getting these in - should the tolerances be this tight? I suppose to could loosen up some mounts on the tranny and jam it in there but to me that doesnt seem right.

    TIA

Are you trying to install the driveshaft with the spindle/upright still attached ?

I think SuperAvant is talking about the main driveshaft not an axle/halfshaft.

Correct the whole propeller shaft assembly.

I know I ordered two 6 speed driveshafts and they were also too long, I ended up using an auto driveshaft which I'm using to this day.

I Finagled mine in there by unbolting the center support bearing completely. It fit then but my concern is the tolerances are too tight. Time will tell I suppose.
