    Key Fob Issue

Hi guys, I have an issue with my key fob as you can tell by the title. I got the car with only 1 key unfortunately, and it didn't even come with buttons. I ordered the buttons and out them on to realize that it still didn't work.. I changed the battery and i tried programming it (i've done it with my B6) and it barely worked... only if i pointed at the driver's door from like 5inches away. I changed the battery again and when i programmed it, I would press a button and the red light would be blinking non-stop and my trunk would open randomly... I have no clue what to do. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

I'm still confused by the 1st post.

I got the car with only 1 key unfortunately, and it didn't even come with buttons. I ordered the buttons and out them on to realize that it still didn't work.
English? What does this even mean? Didn't come with buttons?

From what I 'think' I understand is that you dont have an audi key fob but just a key?

Buy an OEM key fob... and program... if the link below does not work, you'll have to take it into the dealership. I lost my car last year and had to buy a new key fob and get it programmed. ~$270

Hey, sorry for the confusion, i was really tired when i wrote that. I mean that i have the fob, but the buttons on the fob were not there so i bought a rubber set of buttons from amazon (http://www.amazon.com/QualityKeyless...udi+key+button). That key is the only key i have for this car. What my thought is that some how, because the buttons were not there and the inside of the key was exposed, possibly the circuit board inside got damaged by rain or something by the previous owner. But then again, the red light used to flash, but not anymore.

What is the part number of the key when you flip the key out? Should start 8e0...

Sounds to me like the transmitter is dying or something with the button skin you got is jamming the buttons on...

So you got new batteries, but are you sure you reprogramed? Just confirming. If not go here http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...i-flip-key-fob

Funny to run across this post today.

I decided to change the battery in my key fob this weekend and it rendered my car completely useless. I have 2x original OEM keys and after changing the battery in one fob my car went into "safe mode".

I had to have the vehicle towed to the dealership this morning to have the keys reprogrammed. If I start the car after changing the battery (with either key) the car starts up and then immediately shuts its self down. Genius!

The battery powers the transmitter so your buttons can open the doors. If your car went into safe mode, that's the immobilizer system and it is genius. Car thefts have been dropping for years because of it.

The immobilizer doesn't need a battery. So something happened to the chip when you changed your battery. You could start that car with no battery in the key fob and it would run fine.

Next time, just put the key in the ignition, turn the key to the "accessory position" , and hold the unlock button for at least 5 seconds. This will reprogram the fob. No need to tow or take it to the dealer.

Not sure. But I go back to post #11 and you say the red light on the FOB doesn't light up. If you don't get a red light, you're not sending a signal an no amount of trickery is going to reprogram a FOB that doesn't send a signal.

honestly, the batteries i bought from amazon, although energizer, were so cheap. I think ill buy a new one that is overpriced from CVS or something and try that out.
