I have a 2008 A4 and I think the sunroof is broken.
The other night, as I was driving home, I tried to tilt the sunroof open and heard a bit of a crack (not 100% sure on this). Since then, when I turn the dial to fully open the sunroof - it won't go back fully, maybe about 1/4 of the way and then it just stops. When I heard this the first time, I saw that the shade (it a hard shade, not soft) was jammed way back underneath - I was ably to pry is back using my hand but it was stuck pretty good back there. Now when I click the dial back to close - it will close about 90% of the way then decides that there's something stuck and automatically pulls back open. I have to fiddle with the switch - clicking it to tilt; opening/closing it; etc - until it shuts totally. Oddly, pulling down on the dial (versus pushing on it, which used to tilt the sunroof open) from that 1/4 open seems to work the best to close it. Still not great but at least it shuts.
Is this something anyone else has dealt with? I would love a simple DIY but every thread I've read about fixing this/removing the sunroof to view the damage, seems pretty challenging. I'm wondering if a dealer would charge $1,000 just to look at it. Would love help.
