Where is the trunk release button in the cabin? DIY to retrofit?

    Hi guys

I cannot for the life of me find the trunk release button in my A4 B7 sedan. After researching it, it appears they don't have one. I think that is simply weird. Is there a way to retrofit the trunk release button back into the door panel. I would assume running two wires to the trunk switch from the drivers door would achieve this. Has anyone tried this, got a DIY or am I just going crazy?

It would be nice to intall this I think.

I'm not sure on a B7, but on a B6 it is on the drivers side door card at the back of the little cubby/slot/cutaway. I would have guessed it to be in the same place but you sound like you're saying it's not.

Same spot. Back of the cubby on the driver's side door card. There's 4 switches there. Gas door, Trunk release, and a button that disables the alarm setting when you jack the car up, and then a blank (at least that's how my B7 is).

That's weird...how do you open the gas door? Usually the buttons are in the same spot...

Do you have factory B7 door cards or have they been swapped with something else ie: is it possible the wiring etc. is just tied off inside the door?

Gas door for me unlocks when the car doors are unlocked and locks when the car is locked (there's a little pin which moves with the door locks)

But yeah I'm the same and don't have that button inside. Not a big deal for me though.

You do have the button on the remote though, correct? Your B7 may just handle all the "doors" from the remote rather than having buttons on the inside as well.

I have a trunk button and the door lock/unlock ones. But unlocking all doors unlocks the trunk as well.

Thanks guys, yeah, it unlocks with the doors etc, but Id like a boot release button (not unlock but release). Seems a DIY is coming :)

If you're getting that should definitely look into the ECS trunk opening struts (can't remember what the actual name was) so that when you release the trunk will actually open.

That blank spot was for memory seats. Only available on the top of the line models (3.2 trim) for some reason.

That's not true. Memory seats are a whole other insert.
