tip swap specialists: need your guidance

hey all, I completed a ful tip/6speed swap a couple months ago. I first just unplugged the TCM and removed the box. last night, I clipped the actual connector off and put the heat shrink on the end of each wire. I went to start the car today and when I do, nothing happens. I get full power, but engine doesn't crank. it can't be coincidence, I'm sure it's related. I was under the impression that connector could be removed as the ECU doesn't look for it any longer. prior to the cable being cut, I had no issues starting the car. does anyone know what specifically about the TCU connection is utilized to start the car? I'll rewire what I need to but would prefer not to have the TCM plug still attached

Maybe you blew a fuse? Was the battery disconnected when you cut the wires?

it wasn't.. I'll triple check fuses, thanks for that tip. fingers crossed, hopefully that's all it is. I did a fanatic job, if i say so myself, sealing off all of the ends and finishing with the OEM fabric tape. looks damn near normal, I'd hate to have to reopen it up and ruin

Maybe check your clutch switch to see if, it's working when you depress the clutch before starting the car.

I didn't wire either of the clutch switches yet. I've been sorting through other issues and wanted to pull carpet, replace both radio and center consoles, clean under every crevice before finalizing all of the wiring under the knee bolster. the wiring of both clutch switch and clutch bent valve I planned just before the end of the build. if I didn't wire and it started before cutting, would cutting and not having them wired affect the start? it started just fine without having them wired prior to cutting the TCM connector off

I really should've done the entire interior harness swap to manual like you did just for clean install and to avoid these types of issues. hindsight though..

found my issue. there is a ground line that runs from the starter to the starter relay looped through the TCM connection. resoldered that, heat shrinked it again and it fires right up
