    Really quick VCDS question

I've been searching but couldn't get a clear answer. I just got a new key fob to replace my non working one and the 4D0 837 231 E is the same on the replacement but the FCC ids are different. The old one is MZ2 and the new one is MYT, I found that VCDS can help to sort this out and I found the fairly simple procedure to do this. I have an eBay HEX-USB+CAN that worked fine with my B5 A4 but I hadn't took the extra step to pay for a license. The only one in my price range right now is VCDSLite and I wanted to know if its possible to use the Central Convenience module to program the keys on VCDS.

Also wish they gave us discounts...kind of expensive lol

VCDS is the most reasonably priced diagnostic tool on the market.

It is a fraction of the cost of other tools that don't have a fraction of its capabilities.

You might get the remote to work, but you'll need a new immobilizer chip in the key and program that before it will start your car. Does the new key have the same frequency as the old key? If not, it'll be a long shot, but may still work.

Okay I have the full VCDS functionality now and just cannot catch a freakin break. I went to 46 Central Conv, then to 10 adaptation, put in 00 hit read to clear out all keys, then put in 21 hit read, put in 1 for the new key and then hit TEST and held unlock/lock and didnt get a "RECOGNIZED" also tried it in the measuring blocks. No dice

The immobilizer is fine after tranferring it to the new key the car starts fine and I can hear alarm cut on if I lock it manually. With my different FCC id will that make my CCM not recognize the key anymore?

Do the frequencies listed on the 2 remotes you have match? If not, you're likely not going to have success. I believe that you need 315 MHz, but verify with your original remote, it should be printed on it with the FCC ID.

Problem is the remote that came with the car wasn't being recognized either. I figured it was broken & not sending out a signal until I checked the CCM with VCDS and found no keys programmed. The FCC on the old key is MZ2 410 819 63, I thought this was from the B5 platform. My new FOB starts with MYT it is on 315 mhz
