    Oil in antifreeze overflow tank

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I just did a new head gasket. I have great compression on all cylinders but I have lots of oil getting in the antifreeze overflow( over a quart ). The oil is down but no antifreeze in oil........before head gasket work I had no problems with oil in the antifreeze. Any ideas?

Oil and coolant are near each other in 3 places: head gasket, turbo and oil cooler. I hate to say it Spencer, but there might be something wrong with your head gasket job.

Did you get the head shaved?

Can that be done with this motor vce1232000? I know someone who did that on a Subaru once. I used a whole bag of oil dry to clean up the garage floor.

SEE! I'm not the only one! OP, it is indeed possible and I have done it. Open the oil fill cap and see if you have coolant in the head. You need to fix it before starting the car again or you can wipe bearings. Anti-freeze isn't a good lubricant.

The good news is after putting the head gasket in correctly, the car was no worse for the wear.

I just checked and the gasket is not upside-down. I used a hamburg tech head gasket. Could that be a problem?

at the gasket carefully. Do you an area that wasnt crushed or allowing leakage
