Doesn't this eventually happen to every car? Cars dont stay new forever. Buy used and either you tool on it, or pay someone to tool on it.

When you spend more time working on it than driving it you start to really dislike the car.

I m afraid so many of us are headed down this road. Even though many are in denial. Yes used cars require matainance but this model in particular is just plainly over engineered and problem prone. I've had my 02 1.8t for a year now and it's been an adventure for sure....and yes, I wrench on my own shit too.

Nice choice. My wife got a 2.0t Q5 and absolutely loves it.

And I've got to admit, its a pretty fantastic car. Pop it into sport and its actually pretty goddamn fast too, which is sort of shocking. Well at least compared to my stock b7 2.0t which isn't saying much I suppose. Even compared to my stage 1+ 1.8t though, the q5 would smoke it every single time. That 8-speed transmission is amazing, for an automatic...

I can empathize here as well. I love my B6, but I keep having those "throw in the towel moments".
The problem is that there just isn't a candidate replacement for me in the used car market: a German wagon with all-wheel-drive and 6-speed manual that looks sporty.
B6/B7 Audi is it. Everything else is too new and, therefore, upwards of $15-20k and I like not having a car payment even though the monthly maintenance bill may equal it at times, but not over the course of 4-5 years of ownership.
The only other candidate that would work for me would be a 3-series Touring, but the E46 generation doesn't look as good as B6 and the latter model years are more expensive.

The e46 wagons are goofy looking for sure and actually pretty small.

The e9x gen looks good thiugh

I can relate, just not on my audi, more to my new toy MGA!

The 3.0T Q5 is a great Audi to get and really, really good engine, few of my friends have them and they are quick!

    So long B6 community!

    Doooo eeeeetttt!

I actually really like the look of the b8 avants (and the allroads to a lesser extent) but the tip-only Avants make it a non starter for me. Luckily a manual swap isn't really any harder than it is in a b5/6/7 so it's just a matter of finding all the parts. If I were ever to move up to a b8 it would be on the premise that I'm manual swapping it ASAP.

The newer 2.0ts are phenomial though. My wife's Q5 really rips with the 8-speed tip.

100% agree! I really like B8 Avants, but yes, it would have to have a 3rd pedal for me.

I owned my B8 Avant for a total of 4 months....but I still lust for one every now and then. Like I am right now! That is a gorgeous Avant Onceover! I hope you decide to put another pedal in it as well
