    Euro trunk post-pre facelift

Can the key solenoid be fitted on the pre facelift (both euro)?

I just want the 3 button key. Couldn't care less about soft touch.

Do i need to swap the pump also?

Is the trunk harness part of the main body harness or can it be split? Or maye just be easier to add the additional wires needed instead of a whole harness swap.

Euro preface has two lines going in. Left side has the wiring, right side vacuum.

Facelift doesn't have the vacuum line.

Solenoid and facelift latch with pre face lock. Just need to bend or the piece of wire that connect the latch and lock. Wrong shape and length

Everything bar the facelift micro-switch release pads can be fitted to Euro pre-facelift ('96 North American) trunks, as well as '97 onwards North American trunks. Just need to drill some holes, bend a few rods and use the Euro facelift trunk harness (it is a separate loom).

You will also need the facelift Euro central locking pump.

Though it will all work just fine, I would locate and use the facelift Euro trunk lid. It just looks so much nicer

    1. The lock isnt a direct oem fit, more hacked together.
Decided to use the stock lock and bent some welding rod to connect it. Gona drill two 3mm holes for the solenoid.

    2. Where does the harness separate? On the pump itself?

    3. I just programmed the 3 button fob from a facelift euro key to my car. Haven't hooked up solenoid, but lock unlock works. I read somewhere there was some pumps had the output for the solenoid just need to wire up? Another plus was the 3 button had more range, 2feet more. I now have 7feet of range.

    4. I'm 50/50 on this. I like the plate recess and key hole of the facelift, but i like the the swage lines of the prefacelift. I already have the facelift, just thinking if its worth the trouble of painting it over keeping the current preface trunk.

    Facelift = cleaner
    Non facelift = more character?

The rear harness on Euro models separates in the rear seat area on sedans. It should be the same for North American cars too.

    Thanks.

3 button key stopped working. It was working just an hour ago. Need to figure this out or buy a 3 button to continue . Same batteries on a different fob works.

Have you altered any coding linked to central locking recently?

Nope just got the batteries from the working 2 button fob > transferred to 3button > paired it (key on 5 sec etc..) > tested and working even better than the 2 button > did some stuff > went to car to get something > 3 button stopped working.

Put batteries back to 2 button, pairing worked everytime. No response from 3 button. Didn't do the deleting of stored keys, gona try it tomorrow.

They have the similar FCC ID 2button = 4d0 837 231, 3button = 231A. But shouldn't matter since it was working an hour ago.

Stock pump and 2 button flip key works with the trunk popper.

The pump outputs 12v to the solenoid. In theory, any low ampere solenoid should work.

Just need one wire to the pump (harness with big wires #7) and one wire to ground.

    Then buy a 3 button remote or solder a button using a 2 button+buy 3 button pad.
