    Interior Lights

So a thought crossed my mind today...many of us have replaced our interior lights with LEDs, looks much better I agree. So anyway, I was grabbing a few bags out of my backseat and looked up at the LEDs in the back since they were on bc the door was open...then i glanced back up to the front of the car and noticed the BIG dome light LEDs lit again the door was open. It was just tooo bright IMO, and got me thinking...is there a way to VAG the dome light off with the doors open and activate the two reading lights on either side to turn on while the doors were open? This would not only cut down on the bright LED looking dome light, but it would also match the two LEDs in the back seat. I tried looking through the VAG coding on my car and couldn't come up with anything. Not even sure this can or can not be done, but it exceeds my VAG skills if there is one. Let me know if anyone has any ideas which doesn't require re-wiring the dome light.

I haven't see anything about being able to dim them via VAG COM. But, if you get LED replacement/upgrades for the dome light, you can get lights that are less bright. I got the package from deAutoKey and the dome lights burned my retinas out. I asked if they had something less bright and they sold me a light module with 2 SMDs instead of the standard 3 SMDs. Now I can open my door at night have not have to wait for my eye to re-adjust to the darkness. Not quite what you are asking for, but it might be an option.

I want to have the two small circle reading lights to come on up front rather than the dome lights so it matches the rear two LED circle lights when the door is open. So a total of 4 circle LEDs lite, two up front and two in the rear. Hopefully that makes sense. Didn't know if there was a way to VAG the dome light to off and enable the two circle lights with the door open. i don't want to re-wire anything

I get what you're saying. Basically you're just looking to eliminate the main dome light and just have the two map lights illuminate when you open the door.

Instead of vag com (which we don't even know if its possible), why not just pop the plastic dome light cover off real quick and throw a piece of black vinyl inside of it. This way the light won't shine thru, but its reversible within seconds if you ever need or want the lights back. Its actually easier than hooking a vag com up and playing with the settings imo.

If i were to go through the trouble of taking the plastic cover off i would just take the lights out. I need some sort of light...so will need to keep them unless I can find a way to use the map lights as the door is open. its not the biggest deal, just think it would look better.

I put the led lights that are at your feet and under the seats in all my doors..I had to make up a small adapter plug and was good to go.The whole plastic housing popped right in the door panels.Looks great it matches all the other floor lights.Had a bunch sitting around so said why not

Oh ok.. I figured if you pulled the bulbs out then you would get an error. Not sure tho but thats why I didn't suggest it.

So if I understand correctly now, you do want the feature of being able to use the dome light, you just don't want it to turn on when you open the doors. Sorry, I can't help with that.
