    Tire mounting?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I picked up a used S5 in January that came with winter tires.

I've ordered new rims and tires.

Does it make any difference where I take them to be mounted?

Chain stores, (Firestone, discount, tires plus) or would you recommend a specialized shop?

    Where: Broomfield
    What: 275/30/20 on Stasis 20's.

    Thanks for sharing any advice.

    Wheel-to-tire, not really.
Wheel-to-car, that's where the debate typically starts.

I used Firestone in north Westminster to mount tires to the wheels; they do great when it comes to such...
But I rarely allow shops to mount the wheels to the car due to rough handling; I swap wheels at home almost 100% of the time.

I use Discount. Best service and have used them since 98'. I too swap my rims at home but use them for mounting balancing and road hazard warranty.

Thanks for the reply. Firestone is very close I'm off Lowell and 144.

Discount tire is one of my customers, I should see them for "share of wallet".

I'll take both of your advice and mount them on the car at home.

i'd have Berg do it. They will do a great job and you know they will not damage your stuff.

It's hit or miss with discount/firestone/big-o, i'd rather not gamble with that (and learned the hard way with my work wheels for my mr2).

I also use discount tire. The road hazard warranty is great and with locations nationwide you are never to far from one.

That wheel storage is an excellent idea. Ordering a couple now.

For me, Berg handles mine. Not about to have some lackey risk tearing up my wheels.

My local Discount did a nice job scratching a wheel on my (resulting) free mounting. 😑

I dropped them off at Berg yesterday. They are going to mount the tires on my stasis rims.

Given how warm it has been, I'm eager to pull off the bliztechs.

Berg was fast. Got these mounted up on Tuesday.

Really surprised at how different it handles with 20 inch summer tires over the 19 inch snow tires.

I just had a bad experience at Discount Tire in Broomfield (on 287). The damaged on of my brand new HRE FF01s. I'm supposed to be getting a new one, but it's been 2 weeks.

Had an ok experience with Firestone on 104th, but I ended up paying for an alignment where they couldn't make all the adjustments.

I'm done with chains - have to check out Berg I guess. In any case, my research indicates you absolutely want a Hunter RoadForce Balance...

I was back in there today for new front pads and rotors. After the install I had Jeff help me write up my wish list of future mods.

    NICE love that rotor

Yeah the chains can be iffy i DO use discount but i only go to two because i know the Upper management at them. they actually go back and tell them HEY i know who's car this is and pick which tech actually is working on it.
ive never had an issue and have had to use certs before so i wont hesitate going but i know horror stories of most the major chains. Huge rim marks, tire not being sealed, not balanced. i was at a bridgestone with someone picking up a wheel and saw a tech loose a tire that rolled into the street and get smashed by a passing car.

When you hire cut rate employees you get cut rate service and results. When you employ professionals you get professional results.

I'll never understand buying A-line type wheels, or parts or cars but then go to C or D level vendors who cut corners for service and repairs because they are cheaper. Please don't take my comments as a jab, it's not intended to be that. I just have this conversation a lot with my customers since I'm in the service business as well educating them on the "you get what you pay for' adage.
