Looking to purchase a used S5

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Long time lurker here and Audi fan. Used to own a B6 back in the day. Looking to rejoin the family. Needing some input on a used 2012 Audi S5. See attached for details and carfax. Seems like a decent deal, but the carfax looks a little unusual with all of the dealer changes, etc. thoughts? Thanks!

Yeah not sure how that qualifies as a 1-Owner car?

From what I've heard the dealerships sell/trade each other calls sometimes. I bought my car from an independent dealer who had just bought it from a Audi dealer. I was skeptical but everything checked out with the documents and when I got it inspected. Just make sure you get someone to look at it before you buy it. Looks like a good deal though

I'd pass. It has the wrong transmission.

    Slow and tiptronic.

    Pass.

edit: I assume that you may be opposed to a manual but they have a nearly identical car in 6MT in case you missed it: http://www.cityvwchicago.net/used/Au...9b5b8fb6ac.htm

Right transmission...wrong engine and color. I'll make you a deal on mine.

Thanks for the responses everybody. Unfortunately, I am opposed to the manual at this time for personal reasons. Plus, I prefer black over blue.

Does it strike anyone as unusual why Audi decided to send it to auction with so few miles?

    mtndog - pics? How much?

If you need automatic go 2013+. Standard with the v8 is a winning combo for sure but sounds like it's not an option.

If you're not opposed to suggestions, I recommend going to a 2013 FL S5. No issues with carbon build-up compared to the normally aspirated V8 FSI engines of the pre-FL models. The price isn't too far from the 2012 S5 you picked out. Here's one I found in the internet:

    http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...20648435&Log=0

But, I understand your decision to go for the pre-FL S5's especially if you're after the V8 engine. A lot of folks love the B8 S5 for its V8 engine.

I do not see any issues with the CarFax report of the 2012 S5 you found. Cars tend to be sold from one dealer to another and then auctioned off. What I do recommend is for you to view it in person, test drive it, and have it inspected by an indy Audi mechanic before you decide to go for it.
Current: 2016 S5 in Sepang Blue with Technik Package.

    Have you driven it?

Don't worry about the auction thing. I have a friend that is a service director. He as told me of low mileage GTRs and G37 IPLs that his dealership has acquired through auction.

Back to my question... Drive it, if you like it , then buy it. I t looks great. How many miles on it? I could not see it on the ad...

2015 RS5: Mythos Black, Tech Package , Dynamic steering, Black Optics, Folding side mirror upgrade, internal LED lights, Eventuri Intake, Akrapovič exhaust, KW DDC ECU, lots of CF
2013 3.0T Prestige Q7: Sport pedals, LED interior lights

Thanks again for the responses. I actually prefer the facelift model over the pre FL, but it is still a tad more than I would like to spend. I love the technology and styling of the new model, but the V8 is very alluring. Tough call. It doesn't look like it has sports diff or drive select. I assume these are a must have for some folks. Side question, do the 2012's have Bluetooth radio?

I have not driven it yet. Hoping to check it out soon.32,271 miles.
