Hardwired Radar Detector - Blendmount Alternatives?

So the electric part of the Escort 9500 is taken care of already. I ended up not wanting to use the mute button as didnt want to drill any holes and hate using the double sided tape and taking my eyes off the road to reach the button.

So my dilemma now is to buy or not to buy the $130 Blendmount.

Wondering if there are other options that put the radar on the rearview mirror like the Blendmount

I searched everywhere and unfortunately couldn't find anything. Our mirrors aren't like the majority of mirrors o the market because the stalk (for lack of better terms) is so short and stubby. At the end of the day, it's a great product. Still unsure if it's worth the $130 to this day lol.

I don't like the blend mount because it sticks down so low and puts the detector in your face and in view for others to smash n grab.

I have no recommendation, I use a V1 and mount it up high by the passenger visor.

I'm running the Passport 8500i has mute button on the front got the mount for about $7 on ebay works fine for me out of the way and not very noticeable from the outside

I also have a 9500 wired with a mirror tap. Thought about the mirror mount and heavily considered it but ultimately decided to mount to passenger side to right of mirror. My deciding factor was wanting to still use my covercraft sun shade which would not work with the mirror mount because it hangs so low. I am thinking about buying that perma mount with adhesive. Anyone have any problems with one vs suction cups or are they the bees knees?

I recommend this. The one that is Canadian made specifically. Ran it in my 97, cut it out and am now running it in my 01.

I have my v1 located in the same location with the standard suction mount. You can flip the visor down but can't push it up against the windshield. The rear detector is still visible with the visor down.

I pretty much leave my visor against the windshield all of the time.

I prefer high up and lose some visor range vs lower in the line of sight and lose radar range

My commute is always north south so I rarely use the visor , I just break out the sunglasses for a few mins when I need to

I keep mine up high too, it's above the mirror on the passenger side.

I know what everyone is going to say about reduced range.........but I keep my Escort x8500 in my center console (armrest compartment), and it still has adequate range for my needs....totally stealth.

I have mine tucked up above the mirror as well on my B7. Good to know it'll fit there on the B8 too if I decide to transfer it over.

I keep mine up high too, it's above the mirror on the passenger side.

Exact spot where my V1 is. Way better than a blend mount for visibility and since I have tint across the windshield it's invisible. The visor still flips down on the passenger side, just not all the way to the windshield, but since it's usually just me in the car it's not a big deal.
