Teach me how to Aftermarket Seats.

Hey guys, have a few questions on running aftermarket recaro's in a b7.

I know the oem seatbelt is attached to the base of the seat... would there be a way to work around that?

Airbag/Occupancy sensors, I there a way to clear codes, or disable them somehow?

The seats in questions are Recaro SR3's (from an evo4 i suppose).

    Any help appreciated thanks.

You can code a Canadian* B7 seat occupancy like a B6. Side curtain will deploy even if no one is in the seat in case of an accident. (The passenger seat would too but you wont have any)

You can put a resistor on your floor airbag connector to trick it into thinking its there.

    * Cant be done on a US car.

You just bolt the seatbelt to the floor or seat bracket. I don't recall which, but that's not an issue. The passnger occupancy sensor, as metioned, is.

I wonder, could one just buy a Canadian airbag module and install that? They are cheap if I recall correctly.

Ahh okay thanks guys! The seats aren't the best looking, but it would be nice to have some beefier bolsters for the summer, the swap the stock ones back in the winter.

The recaro's currently have red plaid inserts, with black alcantara like material on the bolsters. I would probly like to re wrap them in a leather to make them a little more luxurious.

I wouldn't think it would be all that hard to add a B7 occupancy sensor to aftermarket seats, especially if you're recovering them. You could also try just adding the control box for the sensor and a resistor to simulate a bladder connected to it.

^^The Canadian occupancy is so thin it could be retrofitted easily.

I have a spare one with proper seat harness and seat belt buckle if interested.

I have the chance to grab these for just over 500 bucks for the pair.

I'm still not 100% sure they would look good in the car though.

You can get a pair of actual S4 recaros for $500. And not have to modify them in any way. Why would you spend that money on those?

I see. I was looking at that same set and thought you were referring to a full set.

I really doubt I could find oem seats for that much around my parts. I haven't seen a set pop up so I'm kinda looking at other options.
