    B&O possible blown speaker.....

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I have the B&O sound system that sounded pretty decent up until recently. I've noticed that my front right speaker sounds pretty blown at times. So I'm trying to see if I change out that speaker sometime soon for a new one how much work it might entail. Basically I'm trying to see if I need to take the whole door panel off to get to the speaker or does that speaker grill covering the front speaker some how come off. I'm trying to avoid having to take the whole door panel off if I don't have to. Anyone know the answer? Thanks in advance.

Darn. It appears that if you have the regular non-B&0 stock speakers you can get to the speakers from taking off the speaker grill cover. You would think it would be the same if you had the B&O speakers. Why does everything have to be so difficult.

I have b and o and consider myself an audiophile. Still listen to records at times for authenticity. If your speaker is blown you WILL know it. It will always sound terrible at any sound level.

I listen to my system pretty loud on long commutes to nyc everyday and never had an issue. It sounds amazing. Better than my 911 turbos sound system. Although when I drive that car my music is turned off.

I'd try a MiMi reset first. Then you can pop that grill cover off and visually inspect. Finally, I'd take it in even if out of warranty. There was a tsb warranty notice on door speakers a while ago. For crackling sounds out of door speakers and dash tweeters. It'd be worth a try.

My front right sounds blown sometimes but if I push in on the door panel it goes away and sounds fine so it's not the speaker just something vibrating.

It's weird because today my speaker sounds fine. I originally thought it was something vibrating but when I put my ear up to the speakers it's def the speaker. I consider myself an audiophile as well and have a set of component mb quarts q series just sitting in my closet waiting to maybe be installed if all else fails.

This. I've experienced this since I bought my car. Took it to dealer 3x. They took it apart, "reseated" everything, it still rattles. I ended up throwing a light sweater in the bottle holder and that removed all the vibration, until somebody yanks it and goes "why do you have a sweater in the door?"

have you checked the actual connections on the speaker. If you can push the speak in from the door and it sounds fine leaves me to believe its either a wiring issues or blow voice coil.

I did this a few months ago. You have to take the door panel off if you have B&O speakers. It is pretty easy though. Takes less than 10 minutes to get the door panel off. Simple youtube video is up for the B8 A4, but the work is the same.
