    190hp vs 252hp A4 B9

    Hi,

Not sure if in the US or Europe you are getting the 2.0T 190HP engine version, but here in Mexico we are getting three 190HP versions and three 252HP models.

Does anyone here knows what's the difference between both engines? I mean, they are both 2.0T but one pulls +62HP. Is it just a matter of an ECU flash? Is there any hardware involved (inyectors, turbo, etc.)?

I am about to order today the 190HP Sline version because 252HP is way too expensive for us here (not that the 190HP is not, but somehow more affordable) but reaching out to the experts here to understand the difference between both engines.

    Thank you my friends!

Ive ordered the 190 hp version too.the 250 hp version wasnt worth the money in my opinion.

i assumed an ecu flash will give me some extra hp in the future (maybe not 62 hp , but i can live with that :D )

From what ive read the 190 hp has a smaller turbo and the 252 has the is38 turdo but not not 100% sure on that. Apr had stated that in the gen 3 2.0t flash thread thats floating around.

Based on money, max I could afford was Sline 190 HP so I ordered one last Friday. Here in Mexico seems like the ECU flash can push the power up to 265HP, seems like a lot to me but I choose to believe :)

It's going to be specially built because I wanted the black trims and grille as well as the customizable internal light package, so I have to wait 3 months.

They gave me the advice not to exceed 4000 rpm in the first 2000 km ....still need to read the manual to see what they say about that.

    Talking

    LOL ... true

Maybe i should just put the pedal to the metal

i wonder if my fuel comsumption will lower a bit, driving in effeciency and it still uses 8.5/9 L ,im guessing thats propabably normal with a new car/engine

if its not i should have gone with the S3 sedan :P

I would say performance and economy will improve over time. We bought a new Ford Explorer Sport with the 3.5 Ecoboost. 365 HP / 350 TQ. The power was not very impressive when we test drove one or brought ours home after ordering. Fuel economy was not great either. At about 5,000 miles we saw improvements in both areas. Now at over 20,000 miles it has significantly more power and getting over 24 MPG on the highway. That's before I chipped it. Now its a rocket ship for a 5,000 pound 7 passenger SUV.

I believe you will be happy with it once it is broken in. I have a 2006 A4 with the 200 HP 2.0T and before I chipped it it had plenty of power.

To add to this I've tracked the car for 2 x 30 min session with high speed braking. My brakes are not shot but I definitely lost some bite and initial grip from the brakes. I'm guessing the pads are glazed or something.

Can someone please confirm this? I think I saw somewhere that the b9 A4 with 252hp has ea888 gen3 engine with is38 turbo. If not which Audi 2.0l turbo (A4 or A5) has the Golf R's IS38 turbo? I think S3 has one but no manual so a deal braker for me.

Nope. The 252 hp A4 has the IS20 turbo found in the GTI.

The is38 is found in the S3 and golf R

OK, great, thanks for the info. Is anybody working on adapting the is38 for this platform yet? Do people modify their is20's to fit the bigger wheels of is38?
