    The plugs at the body/ecu

I've been working on my 02 A6 for a while and bought a 00 a6 wrecked with a six speed and a 2.7 with 100k on it. My transmission was in need of the 1-2 collar and probably the rest of the rebuild and the engine was at 191k so I figured I'd swap the engine and transmission with my stage 3 parts and a new clutch. Decided the harness was better because mine had a hacked up 2.0 swap and this harness had 0 cut wires. Fast forward to installing the whole lump in the car and now I'm scratching my head... I sold the car as soon as I'd pulled the parts and let the other engine, transmission, and harness go with it so I don't have anything from it anymore. I started plugging the wiring into the car and realized the white and the red plug at the body/ecu junction are slightly different and cant find the plugs to swap them. Anyone run into this before? I know I'm going to be swapping pins on the Maf connector and tuning isint a problem just the actual connection. I'm thinking about cutting bothe plugs off and wiring the wires together with out the plugs. DO'h! This leaves me with another Hacked up harness thou

Welcome to where I'm at with my 2.7 swap in my s6.

I just bought tools for depinning today. In theory you can depin the wiring from the engine harness and repin them in to your appropriate year plugs, that's what I'm planning on.

Exactly what I did today. Now I'm battling a no start issue with a "improperly coded ECU" I flashed a tune from the other ECU that was working in the car and I've got to recode the ECU from 06612 to 06712 to accept the ESP. I would have thought it would have started thou. I have 3 or 4 wires with color discrepancy from the manual that are in the harness with no clear place to put them and no clear place they came from either. I'm getting fuel, and whatever else clicking and whirring under the hood but when I turn the key to start theres nothing. Thinking of jumping the clutch switch to see if it'll turn over then its going to be hunting starter signal wires ect.
I started with an 02 2.7t body and am working a 2000 a6 harness both six speeds both a6's but the body plugs are different (Well the White and the Red ) between years. Good luck with your project^

Just out of curiosity, what depinning tools are you referring to? I need to repair/replace a couple of connectors.

HA!!@! Just spent the better part of the day trying to figure out why my newly swapped engine/harness/ecu wouldn't turn over and after tracing EVERY FRIGGING WIRE lol I decided to do a continuity test on the trigger wire and concluded it was good so I began checking for voltage and was very surprised to find I have voltage at the lug and the trigger wire with the key turned! My starter "Magically" went bad just like that! no sound, no smoke, no nothing. Do'h. Probably wondering what took me so long to get there... Well I had to repin the white and red connector and found 2 wires swapped and thought I was in for something worse and who would have thought a perfectly good starter just went bad. Ahhh the Audi Life. I spend more time under this thing than I do in it

Probably the tool to pop the pins from the connectors.

Then you can simply reinsert them into the new connector.
