Is There Anyone That Painted Their Side Mirrors Body Color?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Bottom line is the car is getting painted, factory Muguello Blue for cosmetic reasons.
I'm at the point where I don't know if I should paint the mirror covers the body color like the new Ti cars.

Has anyone ever done this? Or can photoshop a Muguello with them? It's down to decision time so I need to figure it out.

I've seen one rs4 like that. Personally I like the Ti mirrors the best.

If you want them to blend in, then paint match them. If you want them to stand out then either OEM silver or TI.

IMO, painting them body color cheapens the look of the car. OEM looks great.

I think painting the mirrors takes away from how wide the RS4 looks from certain angels. They help execute the curves in a weird way, or at least they have that effect on me. Go Ti

If you get new wheels most likely the powdercoat will not be an exact match to the titanium mirrors. My aftermarket wheels were a brushed with a tinted clear, but far from an exact match with the mirrors. I thought the car would look weird with non matching titanium mirrors and wheels.

If I went with black wheels, silver wheels, gold wheels or even orange wheels like I planned on doing once, the body colored mirrors allowed me to run any color wheels at any time.
I don't think it cheapens the look of the car since many RS4's in Europe were spec's this way and a true enthusiast will always be able to tell them as RS mirrors because of their distinct shape.

To me non body color mirrors look cheap on cars. Back in the day the base model VW Golf's and Mustang's came with black plastic mirrors while the highline Gti's and Mustang GT's had body colored mirrors. Just my personal preference and if I bought another RS4 I would body match the mirrors again.

I bought some satin gunmétal wheels for my black RS4.
I will probably body match the brushed Silver mirrors.
I am affraid There will be to much Colors.
I Will install the wheels first and decide after.

But Ti wheels with Ti mirrors is always Winner.

I just did mine. They were slightly pitted and needed some attention. The brushed silver looks good against some body colors but on an Avus Silver car it looked goofy. In any case, I had them done along with the base(pillar) plate. It looks 100 times better than it did. Do what YOU want to do. It's your car. I'm having the same dilemma you've had, with Avus being too similar of a color to that brushed silver which looks a bit "off". I am however on the same opinion as having a brushed silver mirror, giving a distinctive look to the car. I may go the TI look since I vinyl wrapped everything gloss black, and the mirror is the only thing left that is silver.. Anyone know what color code/spray paint they used for the mirrors?

I would personally keep them OEM. They make the car more special, IMO. The OEM mirrors come in matte silver or matte Titanium silver (darker). There is no brush texture to them whatsoever. They are simply painted plastic. I use to know the two paint codes about 5 years back, but my memory is not as good as it use to be.

Always nice to see one of my former stable posted out there. I like both looks personally depending on the color of the car. I'm currently hunting for an Ibis and when I find it I will paint the mirrors to match.

Wow, thanks for all of the replies. I think I'm going with Ti since the rest of the car is now anyway. The wheels are a dark gunmetal so the different colors shouldn't clash. Now I just need to decide if I should get the new badges in gloss black or not...

I'm also working to get Euro bumpers and front PDC in the process of all this since I have the opportunity; practically drooling over the thought of no reflectors.

Well I've settled on Ti paint for the mirrors. Just placed an order for F+R Euro bumpers and full front parking aid (Such a bittersweet purchase). All that's left is Euro headlights and actual Ti window moldings
I can't wait to get my car back after this is all done...

I am also going for TI paint mirrors and Wheels.
Is it possible to powder coat the wheels with exact TI code ? Dont Think so !

I have 2 color code for TI, is there a differance between
    7-YLP and #828788 ?
The mirrors are mate and the wheels semi/gloss or gloss ?

The whole of how the car looks overseas is much cleaner without reflectors and orange corners (among other differences in the light housings)

Whenever the vinyl pulls away or degrades at all that is currently on my window trim I intend to replace it with the actual Ti trim.

Oh well you can do all those things without spending the money for the actual Euro parts. Only exception that I can think of is the Euro trunk which has the wider plate area (I like that look). Edit: I do like the bigger vents on the front bumper. But, for those that don't want to buy a whole new front and rear bumper, can easily body-match those.

I like the wider plate area but I really don't want to go that far and I don't believe that a US plate will fit.

I didn't post it to "correct" you at all, I was just showing what it looks like.

I'm all for EU spec parts but personally the fitment of an NA plate on EU trunk bothers my OCD a little. Maybe it's just this particular example...

I took no offense, no worries. I like the wider look on both my RS and my Passat-it fits better with the rear ends. Maybe when I get my Passat done I'll source a Euro trunk.

    Joey,
If you dont mind me asking what did you pay for your euro front bumper, I've been on the hunt for one but am a bit of a cheapskate.
