2007 A6 Avant AMI and Voice Control Questions

Hey all- I recently purchased a 2007 A6 avant with 48k miles, and had some questions about using the AMI and the voice control from the steering wheel.

When I first brought the car home, the voice command worked fine. Now when I press the button to activate it, it will fade out the radio, chime twice (think like a door bell), and resume playing music-without accepting any commands.

As for the AMI- I got an aftermarket cable (AMI to AUX)to hook up to my mp3 player. The car recognizes the connection is active, but won't play any music.

I'm quite new to the AMI/MMI, my last car was a B6 A4, so any thoughts are appreciated!

Did these issues appear when adding the aftermarket aux cable?

I don't think so, voice command won't work even without the cable hooked up. side thought: I'm running winter tires and rims without TPMS, any chance this might be causing other modules to flip out?

I doubt that would make a difference. Do you have, or have access to, VAGCOM? It may be worth scanning the car for any fault codes that will help point us in the right direction.

Had my doubts too, but figured I'd mention it anyway.

I currently don't have one, but hoping to get some coding done anyway, so I'll be looking for an owner in the Worcester,MA area

    Thanks for chiming in!
