    Stage 1 E85 to Stage 2

Will my car be harmed if I went Stage 2 and logged without a HPFP upgrade? Is it 100% validated that every car needs the HPFP upgrade for stage 2 E85?

I think straight E85 is would throw a lean code for sure. No logs here but from what I've seen, read and know it would be.

I run a Stage 2 with 3 gals of E85 mixed with 93 with Zero issues. Car responded very well. Saw it really kick in after a full tank and then upon my second fill up with this mix.

With stock fuel pump I'm assuming?

Correct. On my last car (MS3) I did the HPFP and E85, ect. and enjoyed it but I'm not sure I'll put forth all that on the S4 as it's a new platform for me and I want to see how longevity and reliability play out with others first.

I'm quite confident and comfortable with the mix so far. Based on my first summer with Stage 2 and seeing it pull a little timing, I really just wanted to give it enough to perhaps get that timing back yet not stress the rest of the system too much if at all. I know it can push the fuel needed as really I'm not mixing much. YMMV based on what you wish to do with your car.

Yah summer is brutal here as well. If I can mix in a couple gallons each fillup to help keep the timing in some sane range on the 100°/95% humidity days, I'm going to try it lol.

I'm in Phoenix talk about brutal summers. We have 91 and E85 here at the pumps. Last summer I started running 3-4 gal of E85 with every 91 fill up. Car is stock but I could tell a difference within a few days and even more after a few tanks mixed like this. I have had zero codes or issues.

As you I am going to go Stage 2, the next sale that happens, and want to run the 93 octane tune all of the time. My only option is to run a mix of E85. I have heard the tune will adjust so if its not spot on you wont kill the motor.

I would think of it as a backup parachute, would you go sky diving without one?

For full E85 stage 2 you need the upgraded pump. Solo motorsports sells their kit with it included.

I have EPL stage 1 e85 and epl tcu. I don't need HPFP but irrc Tony said it's required for stage 2. I might get one because I don't know how to save money... plus it preps me for stage 2 upgrade!

Hahahaha me and you have the same problem!! I should drop in a modders anonymous metting someday...

If you want to run pure corn, get the fuel pump upgrade. If you want to just add a few gallons of E to gas, you don't need it grumpy.

Ill send you a few things to log. Any car that is running the 551F file I havent seen a need for. Interestingly... did the light come on during extended cruising after a pull? If yes, we my other thread.

If we do need a pump, any chance you would know if the flex fuel pump from the a4 would work?

You don't need the entire pump just the piston.

Tony... So based on ECU codes there are variances in the HPFP output?
