    Exclamation AEB spark blowout/MAF probelm??

    Hey!
I have been chasing this problem for a long time now, and i cant seem to find or fix it!
car idles and drives perfect until i hit boost, then it starts acting up. It sounds like a machine gun from 0-1 bar boost, kind of like this -> https://youtu.be/dkUWj1ExJtY?t=7s except mine makes that sound all the time until i let go of the accelerator.
I would also like to point out that if i disconnect the MAF the car runs perfect, but can only make 0.3 bar. Tried changing the maf with a brand new one, but the problem was still there (i forgot to reset the ecu) so i returned it. Maybe i just needed to reset the ecu? Or could it infact be spark blowout?

car is chipped with a cold air intake, otherwise stock.
    I get no fault codes.
Brand new ngk bkr7e plugs (factory gapped at 0.28(?)
    new CTS
    new ICM
    no boost leaks
and probably a bunch more that i cant remember right now.

Everything I've ever heard about spark blowout is that it is ultimately caused by high cylinder pressure. It's my assumption that you're not running much boost about 1 bar (15psi) that isn't enough boost to blowout or squelch the spark.

Spark "blowout" creates a mental image like a match being blown out... Which isn't correct actually. Technically speaking a great amount of pressure in the cylinders creates a requirement for more power for the spark energy to jump the gap between the electrodes. Unless I'm wrong about how much boost you're running, I'm thinking you may have really degraded ignition coils (assuming the ICM you got was new and not just used). OR, you battery and/or your alternator may be weak. Do you have any issues with your lights dimming when you have the music loud? When you turn on your headlights, or high beams? One thing folks used to do was run an extra line directly from the alternator negative poll to the battery negative poll to improve the ground connection between the two. Before doing that you might have your system tested to confirm that it's doing what it's supposed to be doing.

Another thing you can try is to adjust your plug gap. I would try increasing the gap first, if the problem worsens you've gotten an initial verification of where the problem is. If you get to a gap of like .050 and it hasn't changed, there's a chance "spark blowout" isn't the issue. The reason why I suggest increasing the gap first is that in the event that what you're getting is actually pre-detonation, decreasing the gap will only increase the problem and could lead to some serious damage. However, if the spark is just weak and isn't firing (i.e. Blowing out) it'll still be rough, but you aren't risking as serious damage with it simply not firing. If the problems does worsen, then go the other way, steadily decrease your plug gap to see if that improves the situation. It'll be tedious to gap each plug then test, but it's free so...

For the sake of general engine health, it would hurt to do a compression check, which may or may not give strength to the idea of the spark getting "blown out"...

By the way, as long as the energy gets to the spark plug, the engine won't record a misfire if it's happening IN the cylinder.

Oozed from a pustule of thought somewhere within the recesses of my mind...
