Fast Intentions or Corsa exhaust for 4.2?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
As the title states... Any opinions on the two and which is giving the best dependability and sound? I really did Fast Intentions, but there is a local guy selling a Corsa for really cheap.

    Thoughts?

I love my Corsa exhaust. It sounds amazing. I love the popping and crackling noises. Sorry for the crappy iPhone videos but it's all I have at the moment.

I love my Fast Intentions. Unique, exotic car sound. Here is video of mine:

    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...-Pipe-My-Build

Its a lot of exhaust for what you pay for. Full Cat Back, X Pipe and true dual chambered mufflers (vs just split tips)

The Audi dealer I took it to last commented on how well built the exhaust was and how perfectly and securely it fit.

I thought the price was great too. I had them install it at their shop. Really nice guys

How about neither? AWE Track all the way :)

In all seriousness, I was choosing between AWE and FI, as they both sound amazing. Since you don't have AWE on the table, I would recommend FI.

You have the non res version, correct? Any drone issues? I do a lot of freeway driving for work and drone would be an issue. I know there is going to be a bit of drone on anything. Just some are worse than others...

I have the non res FI exhaust. It is fantastic.

There is minor drone but it usually starts around 1700 RPM. You wouldn't normally be cruising around that RPM anyway. If you are, just downshift.

I daily my car in terrible traffic and still love it. It's quiet when you are cruising but comes alive when you want it. +1 for FI.

If people want no drone they should stick to OEM ha ha

My exhaust drones a little as do all aftermarket. but I love it. Hearing that exhaust every day brings me a little extra hapiness each and every time I drive that car. The FI has such a good sound and is so distinct from the masses of AWE exhausts.

    My is no aftermarket resonators.

I took a look at AWE's website, and they appear to use dual walled tips also. However, their tips are slightly smaller in length and diameter than FI

From the picture, AWE appears to use a single in / single out muffler with the tips being connected by a piece of tubing shaped like a Y. You can notice that AWE's exhaust tips are clamp on style.

FI exhaust system uses a single in / dual out muffler and the tips are welded directly to the end of the muffler. FI dual chamber muffler has a straight through path that the exhaust gases travel through when at cruising speeds, but have a secondary chamber that is always open and increases flow characteristics, especially under wide open throttle.

Not to mention the X Pipe that AWE does not have in their system and I believe helps with the unique sound.

No. The difference is that the AWE Track does NOT have mufflers where the tips are. It's simply piping, which explains the amazing and intoxicating sound. Also, this provides for a cleaner look from behind the car, since there are no mufflers/canisters behind the tips. Even though the FI's mufflers are on the flat side, they are still visible. Lastly, the AWE's tips are not only more attractive, but they contour to the rear valence just like the OEM ones do; not only are they staggered, but they also maintain the diagonal/angled cut. The FI exhaust looks too aftermarket all around, whereas the AWE exhaust looks OEM. Not to mention that the diamond black tips look phenomenal! In regards to amount of piping, the AWE sounds so good that no extra piping (not even downpipes) are necessary to get a great growl out of the car. Craftsmanship and fitment are second to none - I wish the underside of the car could be more visible for people to admire the entire exhaust. This shouldn't turn into an FI vs AWE thread (because the op didn't even mention AWE to begin with), but we should all understand that differing opinions will only amount to opinions and nothing else. We each pick what we like best.

You brought up AWE first a few posts up. Ha Ha

People tend to always support the products they bought and put on their cars. The one exception is coilovers and springs as I have read a lot of posts from people not happy with their decision.

My Dad can beat up your Dad.

I did bring it up, as a joke, and then recommended the FI based on the two exhausts that he is considering. I did not provide further information about AWE, nor did I try to sway him over to the brand. Your posts, on the other hand, started making comparisons between AWE and FI, so I felt it was fair to provide accurate information. Also, I'm not just supporting the product I went just because it happens to be on my car; ultimately it's a buyer's choice, no? When I created my exhaust thread I remember you recommending FI as well, and I researched both exhausts extensively until I made the decision on AWE. I'm well aware of my words, sir, and I'm glad you're as happy with your FI as I am with my AWE :)

FI and Corsa are the only two I know that don't neck down to the stock 2.35 size at the joints
They are 2.5 throughout because they aren't compatible with stock downpipes, which are 2.35

I have Corsa, no drone, sounds great, reasonably quiet and comfortable until about 2000 rpm, so you can get home without waking up everyone. It quickly get properly loud after 2000 rpm

I have not heard FI in person, but from the videos it sounds more exotic and unique. Plus the fastest naturally aspirated 4.2 uses it

I personally think AWE track exhaust is too loud and is for track cars

I don't think the AWE is too loud, it's just too much like a Mustang for me. I was lucky enough to go to a meet where two guys had AWE and FI exhausts and got to hear them in person. I just preferred the sound of FI; the AWE still sounded and looked great.
I am a little jelly about dem black diamond tips doe!

Exhaust gains on a naturally aspirated engine such as ours are minimal/almost negligible, whether piping diameter stays the same or slightly increases. Most of these exhausts in question are rather tamed, even the AWE Track, and throttle control determines the loudness at most rpm's. Granted, now we are getting to subjective arena. You find the Track loud and think it belongs on track cars (it's not really track loud at all, not anywhere near), and I find the Corsa to sound almost stock, whereas Diamond thinks the FI sounds best. I can guarantee that what makes the fast NA 4.2 the fastest is not the exhaust - in fact, that's probably the least relevant upgrade in regards to performance gains.
