Americas Tire didn't want to install my tires. Went elsewhere

I figured Americas Tire would be weird about installing my 225/40/18 tires on my 18x9.5 wheel. I had to try but it was a waste of my 8 minutes. Then I made an acquaintance with a dude at Firestone who is running a 205/40/18 on the same size wheel and he would install it but would have to charge me Firestone pricing at a total of $167.00. Someone is smoking crack today. I called around in the West Sacramento area and had everything done for $40 out the door. He said the 225 was a piece of cake and I watched them tackle it. He said he did a 205/40 on a 10 wide wheel and that was work, mine was nothing. Kudos to The tire shop. Sorry no pics. But they are Nitto NeoGen on Privat Kups.

You wouldn't have these problems if you ran proper tires for your rims.

Lolz, but true. I run a 225 on an 8.5" wheel and thats as narrow as I was willing to go.

True but the 215 wheel fits the same on the 8.5 (which is within spec according to Nitto) as does the 225 on the 9.5. I've seen people pull of a 235/40/18 with a 18x9.5 in the rear but it cuts it close when lowered so I guess I had to be different and deal with the answer No. Won't be the first time.

I run 235/35/19 on my 19x9.5 wheels and I wouldn't run anything less than that, I have no problems running that on my ST coils around 24" ftg without adjustable control arms. 225 on a 9.5 wheel is pretty damn risky IMO, good luck with keeping the tire bead.
Thanks for the EFF shack. -Dirty Mike and the Boyz

    No it doesn't. In what world does 10mm = 1"? Last I checked, 1 inch was 25.4mm

Regardless of size questions, you would never, ever get 4 tires swapped and balanced for $40 in Minnesota.
