i started getting the stop car and check oil alarm on my car, it comes and goes but usually when staying idle or at a light, then after i start driving it goes away. after plugin vcds on it i got this alarm

5582 - Oil Pressure Switch for reduced Oil Pressure
    P164D 00 [039] - Malfunction
Not Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear

i checked oil level, everything is ok, either way got the oil and filter changed, but problem remains

i also took this read in Advanced Mess Blocks

179 Status of oil pressure switches 0 this is usually in 1 but in idle it goes to 0

you guys think this is faulty?

Do you have the correct viscosity oil?

Switch seems fine, it is changing from open to closed....seem like your oil pressure at idle is too low. Unscrew the switch (located just below the oil filter, screw in a mechanical oil pressure gauge, and see what the actual oil pressure is, with a fully warmed-up engine, at idle, and at 3000 RPM. Then compare with the minimum oil pressure specs in the service manual. If it meets the spec, then the switch is bad. If it doesn't meet the spec, then check if your PCV unit has a torn diaphragm in the pressure regulating valve, which can cause excessive crankcase vacuum at idle, causing the oil pressure to be lower than normal. If its not the PCV, then you have worn bearings in the engine, or a worn oil pump.

To check the PCV unit : There is a small hole on the side of the round black plastic part of the PCV, the hole faces towards the windshield. While the engine is idling, put your finger on that small hole and see if you feel any suction. If so, the diaphragm is ruptured and the PCV unit should be replaced. You can also just replace the diaphragm with a repair kit from Doorman Products....search this forum and Amazon.

Yeah, I had that error on my car years ago. I pulled over, stopped the car. Checked my oil and the level was good so I drove the last 2 miles to work slowly. Turns out, my oil pump had died and Audi replaced my entire engine.

    Get it checked.

Thank you for your answers, do you have any idea on how to check the PCV for leaks using VCDS?
