    Need rotors

I've just been searching on this site for the last three days, and couldn't find a definite answer on what rotors to get. I just need the fronts, and I don't race or anything these days since the Evo days, so I just want something cheap, and not going to wrap or break apart.

Rotors are rotors. They're not a mechanical part, and most of these companies are ISO standard companies meeting OEM standards, so I don't really care about drilled, slotted, black chrome, or whatever coating. I drive about 100+ miles a day, and most of that is on the highway.

I got the TWS (oem manufacturer) brake pads for about $40 on Amazon, which comes with the new sensor wires, and brake goop, that's ceramic. I know the ceramic has less bite, which I think is fine, considering the OEM pads are so bitey, I'm constantly lurching forward when I'm not in the highway. And I don't like that much. I want a smooth scaling of braking. And quiet. (My racing days are on hold for now)

    I'm down to these:

    ECS slotted - $180 pair

    Brembo plain - $190 pair

Carquest Wearever Brake Rotor (advance auto brand) - $120 pair

    Zimmerman rotors - $150 pair

Would love to get your take on it. The reviews are so spread out, and I'm not spending $500 + for rotors and brakes that'll go through within a year.

Would love a review format reply.

    Thanks!

Brembo, ECS, and Zimmerman are all great choices. I also like Stoptech brand rotors, and they're offered in drilled, slotted, or a combination of both.

At the end of the day, each of these brands make quality rotors and you won't notice any difference. Decide which you'd prefer aesthetically, and go from there. The Zimmermans seem to be the best deal if you don't mind a blank.

According to the SA at my dealership, if you're looking for longevity, the order will be plain, slotted, then slotted and drilled.
I mean I doubt the difference would be that significant, but with the amount you're driving, I feel pads and rotors will only last you about 1.5 to 2 years.
I have ECS slotted with Akebono pads and they are good. Initial bite isn't there, but they are quiet and essentially dust free.

Like LINDW4LL mentioned, you can't go wrong with Brembo, ECS, Zimmerman, or Stoptech.

Zimmerman has a nice anti corrosion coating on them. To me, that's the most important aspect of a cheap blank type rotor. I don't want to see rust on the hubs.

Rockauto has a nice selection of rotors. Power slot if I'm not mistaken. My has a set on his B7 A4 and what I like best is the rotors still look new after one year of wear (10k mileage wise). No rust insight.

Rockauto has the lowest price on the RAYBESTOS and regular Centric for sure.

At a certain price range, I've noticed that all of the manufacturers use the same makers from China or Thailand for their rotors and pads, since the shipping is so cheap these days.
