The Strictly High Mileage B8 Thread

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
After looking up high mileage B8's for sale on cars.com, I decided to have a positive outlook and see how far I can take my B8 which is currently at about 91,000 miles. I created this thread for all of us who are approaching the 100,000 milestone and plan to keep going and for those who have already passed 100,000 miles. If possible, pull over and take a picture of your B8's odometer and also if possible and safe enough, take a picture of your car at the location where it reached this milestone. You decide what your milestone is. I plan on posting a picture at the 95,000 miles mark, but feel free to post your high mileage odometer pics at whatever interval you feel! Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures at the moment, but am hoping that others can chime in.

This is what I'm at currently.

Just over 100K now. Looking to do timing chain and tensioner soon, along with water pump for at least another 100K!

Stage 2 oil consumption done at 75K, and running APR stage 1

2010 Audi a4 6 speed manual with 109k running great . Hasn't had any oil stages compeleted and burns abkut 2.5 quarts per oil change . Would it be too late to do anything about the consumption?

If the engine is stock, it can't hurt to try. Most dealers have been standing behind these cars.

Almost 96K on my 2011 Avant P+, bone stock. Stage 2 oil consumption done at about 25K. Goes through half quarter between oil changes (10K). I plan on keeping it for awhile and hope not to see any major issues. Will see.. :)

2011 Avant P+ here with 102k. Had stage 2 oil consumption done at about 85k and then stage 2 APR at 87k. Been running strong ever since and Im at 7k since my last oil change without any oil burnt.

Unfortunately I dont plan on keeping much longer but thats only because the wife and I are considering a new Q7 TDI as soon as they become available.

2010 premium plus, auto, black exterior/interior, navigation, backup camera, with 140k miles. Just did a whole lot of work to it, i mean alot. i wish i started with photos and did diy for everything. Purchased for $8k cash and put another $4k in it in less than 6 months. And i just ordered new motor mounts, pcv, and all kinds of gaskets and seals. I plan to drive this to the ground, and i think that will take a while.

So far i like it, mines a few things lol. But i still drive it everywhere and trust it with the miles that it has now.

i reached 100k this past August, at 107k now. i took pics and a video of my odometer at 99,999 and as it turned 100,000. was sad to see it hit 6 digits, but it's been running pretty well and i don't see why i can't take it to 200k, i plan to at least and hope to just keep driving it till it's done. gave it a good wash that day and took some pics.

and i've also been thinking, even if the engine or something starts to go, by then i'll do a rebuild on it and soup it up, will be cheaper later on probably as well. i had my engine rebuilt at 60k and it's been strong since. i plan to update the tensioner and replace the chain at the same time, within the next week or two. and then maybe a good carbon cleaning within a year or so. it's been pretty hassle free (fingers crossed), and hopefully i can just keep it regularly maintained as i have been and keep it going strong.

i love the look of the car and have a hard time imagining not having it. it's such a classic design IMO even 10 years later it will still look great, and i hope to keep it looking mint then as well. the only time i've thought about changing cars is daydreaming about getting an A/S7 later on hehe, but even then i would still want to keep this as a second car, not worth it for me to part with it and it's my first own car as well so it's got a lot of memories.

thanks, yea i love the Peelers, they look great on these cars, and i havent really thought of changing them, going to redip them in a fresh color soon. FYI they are OEM S4 wheels 19x8.5 et43 on 255/35 tires, and i have 15mm spacers in the rear. and yes i'm lowered on Solo Werks coils, they are set to the highest setting, and it leaves just barely a 1 finger gap from tire to fender, which is perfect for me, still nice and low but not too slammed or anything and still practical on these NYC roads.

The Strictly High Mileage B8 Thread

Hit 100,000 on Friday. Now 100,180 and only the sunroof has flown off. Surprisingly, everything else still works great!

I have had the car for 3.5 years and since 36,000 miles.

    Jk on the sunroof.

2011 P+ stock with stage 2 oil consumption performed at 97k. Car is currently sitting at around 115k miles with no failures yet, still on original brakes, but 3rd set of tires. Picture is a little dated. I agree with most comments, as long as the car is taken care of they seem to have reliable little drive trains.

Thats a 2010? I have a 2010 Premium Plus Quattro and it has the red electronic readout between the guages. How did you get a LCD color screen in there? Is it a late 2010?

Curious why some of you waited so long for oil consumption, or did it not become as bad till later on?

I'm also loving seeing so many higher mileage B8s especially 09s.

Probably just because the oil consumption issue took a while to fully blossom, so by the time there was a resolution for it they were already high in mileage. I had mine done at 80k but if I knew there was a fix for it sooner (and free to boot), I would have brought it in much sooner.

I called Audi to get information on the oil cosumption but I missed the train but 8k miles. So now im stuck with 2 quarts of oil consumption for every 5k oil change. hopefully it doesn't get worse or this would have been a terrible expirence with audi.

I had my stage 2 covered by audi at 88,000 miles. My car had recently had its certified pre owned warranty expire but they did a goodwill repair and covered the entire cost. It was not an easy process and I was on the phone with AoA many times and filed about 4 cases with them before I finally got the approval.

Bought my 2010 A4 P+ with 89k miles in September 2015. I'm at 102k now. I commute about 80 miles a day just to work and back. Got rid of my MKV R32 for this as the R is not the best daily driver lol. Just had the pistons, rings, head, turbo hoses and chain tensioner replaced all for free under the oil consumption at 100k. I don't see why I can't get another 100k+ out of this car as long as I maintain it properly, especially since I basically have a new motor.

I'm at about 101,000 its been a great car. Other then a few minor things. Having the intake manifold flapper fail. But I got that taken care of and the car runs great. I do need to do some maintenance on it. Timing chain, water pump, new brakes, and to figure out why my trans is slipping when its cold. But I love driving it . especially in the snow. Plenty of goodies.

Despite Audi's "Lifetime" claim (which is a load of crap), I had my local independent audi tech/tuner drain and service my 8 speed at 92k miles. Very glad I did

I've had to replace my timing chain tensioner and replace my pistons due to oil consumption issues, all out of pocket because I was way out of warranty mileage wise. I had to spend $11K CAD of my own money to replace everything, (new turbo, carbon cleaning, etc.) so I plan on keeping the car till the damn thing falls apart. I commute everyday 40km each way for work and now that the engine is practically brand new, I'll hopefully see another 100,000km on this engine. Also ignore the check engine light, gotta take the bumper off and see what's going on with the outside temperature sensor.

I was going to ask a question about that. I have 101k on mine. Its a 6speed auto. Should I worry about the transmission slipping after doing a new filter and fluid. Right now when I drive it. 1st to second it shifts hard. 2nd to 3rd is fine, 3rd to 4th is fine. 4th to 5th slight shudder If I'm really on gas. I don't want to do a fluid and filter if its going to make things worse. Also what about Lucas trans service. Any good for our cars.

I don't want to do a fluid and filter if its going to make things worse. Also what about Lucas trans service. Any good for our cars.
Honestly no you shouldn't worry about that. What I would worry about more is old fluid that overheats and doesn't do its job. Drain it, drop the pan, fill it, and change the filter and drive it sorta gently after for a thousand miles. I had a really rough 1-2 shift when cold prior to the fluid swap for new lifeguard and that rough feeling is gone. I also felt some slippage on the 4-5 high Torque shift. I've only felt it once since. At 100k miles the tranny is still a used tranny and won't be perfect but I think a proper drain and fill will extend its life. Especially if you don't beat the crap out of it. I also replaced my engine mounts when I did the fluid drain and the mounts really tightened up my shifts.... But the extra NVH at idle is annoying, especially in cold weather

I wouldn't call anything under 150k "high milage" really... There are so many Audi/ VWs out and about with 200k, 250k, even b5 models with 300k. These cars last a long time.

Roughly 105k? K04 plus boltons, no issues what so ever, also has catch can, very little oil usage. plan on going full rebuild with forged internals and stage 3 whenever APR comes out with the kit.
