    Price check on 2015 S4

    Hi all,

I've been driving a B6 A4 for nearly the past decade and the time has come to find a new car. I have my eyes on the following:

    2015 S4 Premium Plus
    CPO with 9000 miles
    7-speed automatic
    Black optics package
    Rear sports differential
Technology package (side assist, rearview camera)
    Navigation system
    B&O sound
    Nappa leather seats
    Heated front seats

The dealer is asking for around 48k. That seems somewhat reasonable but I wanted to know what the consensus was around here and what others would try and grab this car at. Thanks!

That seems like a pretty good deal since CPO'ing adds a couple thousand dollars.

I came from a manual 3.0 B6 A4 and trust me, you will LOVE the S4

That seems like a very reasonable deal. Based on the options you listed, that car probably msrp'ed for $60k-$61k. So, $48k seems great especially since, as Fat Kid already mentioned, they've CPO'ed it.

Ask them to throw in Audi Care and then it'll be a deal!

The car you want is just a year old. Typically, a car's value drops by 10% to 12% on its first year. I just configured a 2016 S4 with the same configuration as the CPO S4 you're eyeing. Brand new costs around $56,245. So, that $48k price tag for your CPO S4 sounds reasonable to me. However, I won't just take his asking price. Try to haggle for a lower price. Start with a $46,500 offer and work your way up to say $47,500 or so. Then, evaluate the outcome of the negotiation. Also, keep in mind not to act desperate or your haggling will be fruitless. A lot of sales people can easily sense whether you're desperate or not. If they see desperation, they'll use it so they won't budge on their asking price.

Another thing you should investigate is whether Audi has factory or dealer incentives for CPO cars. These incentives vary by area so do your research.

One other thing you can do to determine whether $48k price is reasonable is to look at similar used CPO S4's at a handful of other Audi dealers who allow you to search through their pre-owned inventory. For example, I went to an Audi dealer website in LA that has 1 CPO 2015 S4 with, more or less, the same option configuration and mileage as the one you want. Their asking price is $47,995. See what other dealers want for similar CPO cars. You'll have a better idea of the range of asking prices of CPO '15 S4's.

$48k is high. They will let it go lower. Negotiate.

Any MSRP comparison is pointless. No one pays sticker. A brand new one with similar options could be negotiated to low $50s as other mentioned. So you're really only talking a 4-5k discount vs. buying new. The only perk is you do get the 100k warranty which is nice.

Value/Deal aside...if its the exact car you want, buy it.

FWIW I paid 48k last week for a '16 prestige tip w/ sports diff, 5,000 miles (MSRP $61k). I'm not sure if that helps though, because I had a trade-in which always messes with the deal a little.

Agree. I forgot that no one pays for MSRP. Heck, I didn't pay MSRP for my S5. Silly me. However, we know that dealers' asking price for a CPO is and will always based on MSRP.

To the OP, if a brand new car can be had for, say $50k, then you can probably aim to negotiate the $48k price for the CPO down to around $45k or around that range.

Bought a 2015 S4 last week for $45,000. I might have gotten a bit more off had I come in with an initial lower offer but I was more interested in the $8-$10k savings over a new 2016 than worrying about $500 off.
