Exhaust servo flap stuck in sport?

I got some new exhaust tips to put on the S6, but I need the sound dampening flaps to be closed before I cut the old tips off to install the new ones. The flaps will not close in comfort mode. or any other mode for that matter ( I tried to set all if the individual mode settings to comfort, but they still won't close.

Has this happened to anyone else?

The S is different to the RS models. The valves only close when cruising in 4 cylinder mode and at higher RPM's when comfort mode is selected. I don't believe they every close when the car is stopped.

Exactly. As Mad says...only closed in 4 cylinder mode.
Perhaps there is a way to cycle it shut with vcds but I do not know how.
Since you are going to work on it anyway, the best method may be to unplug and remove the valve motors then you should be able to move the flap by hand.

Cheers for the replies gentlemen, after reading this I just went ahead and did it. Even with the actuator unplugged, the flaps stay open and seem to be on a spring in the normally open position, so I just said F it and took the sawzall to them. Four perfect cuts, I cut it so close to the open ports that the blade scraped paint (or soot) off of the flaps, but didn't damage them.
