Will the dealer raise a Flag if I get one installed?

Interesting thought. I'm not sure what they would do. Can't they remote scan the ECU now anyways? I think you're looking at a possible TD1 either way you go.

Can the dealer detect a TCU tune? Is it something that Audi even knows to look for?

A guy just posted the other day that a dealer left a wireless obd scanner in his car. He noticed it after the fact.

I think it would prevent them from reflashing, but they would still be able to scan it and detect any software changes IMO. I'm not sure though.

Brings up another question. If you do have a TCU tune and take it to the dealer and they update it does it override your APR TCU tune? My thinking is yes. So that being said you would have to tell the dealer you are tuned so they do not overwrite your APR tune, correct?

I agree with you. I think if they have to update any software it's going to overwrite any tunes. I could be wrong though, but I think that's why there are ODB locks and things out there to prevent any unwanted software updates.

Almost drove away with one connected but a tech chased me down as I was about to pull out of the parking lot. Went to the dealer only for an oil change, not sure why they needed to scan my car, they answered with "to reset your service interval" which I think is bullshit.

It's a OBD scan dongle that communicates with the dealer tech computers via bluetooth. It HAS to be plugged into the obd port. So while an Autocyb (http://www.autocyb.com/) might help, I have a feeling they will deny service without access to the OBD port, for any and all service.

^ I wouldn't call bull on that. If they didn't reset your reminder and had to drive around with the light on you wouldn't be happy. It's part if the process.

This. When i worked at Chevy dealer GM used a wireless dongle that hooks to the obd port and either hooks up to a wireless network or you can direct link it to a computer. It works pretty well. But If you install some sort of lock onto the OBD port they would try to hook up and when they see what you installed they would come ask you to either remove it or ask you how to remove it.

But like others have said they have to hook up the tool to reset your SRI light

Give it a whirl, all it takes is a tech to forget. Put the lock on it.

my last two cars i always ask to not plug into OBDII port, if needed ill go and flash back to complete stock.

If they plug in the car will automatically get flagged TD1 and it'll automatically get sent to AoA so dealer can't do anything about it. People here tend to think its the end of the world this "TD1" thing... its not hard to avoid.

I've had 2 services from my dealer with an ODB2 lock on it. I keep the key hidden in the back seat in case they ever called for it. Haven't called yet. I think all they do is change the oil and filter and do visual on a check list. I think the only time they would actually plug in is if there was an engine /trans warranty issue.

The service reminder is reset through the MMI. Could you do it through the OBD II port? Sure, but why?
