Question Memory Seat Function Stopped Working. Dealer quoting $1500 to fix!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Recently had my battery changed and after that happened my memory function in my seat stopped working. I took it to the dealer today and they claimed it was already like this and they have a faulty code they received when they changed the battery. They say I might need a new module and that would cost 680 CAD and it would be a three hour job at a rate of 120/hr. I already paid 2 hours for labour to tell me there is a problem.......

Should I find a module from a scrapped car and go to my friend and do the install ourselves or just take it to an indie Audi shop. Because I don't feel $1500 is really worth memory seating. Does Audicare not cover this?

It's a 2012 and I have Audicare. The protection is 5 years and 80k km and It's under 5 years and I have 60k km on it....I'm having my salesperson look into it for me because he said that he should be covered.

The switches no longer work and they said that I need a new module. If I can't get the warranty to cover this then I don't think I want to immediately drop $1100 on fixing this.

this should definitely be under warranty (audicare) but if not you can purchase a used switch and plug it in just to start narrowing things down.

do you have access to vagcom? scan for codes and see what comes up. start from there. i think $1100 is a bit absurd.

The salesperson said it should be warranty so he's checking tomorrow for me. Yeah my friend locally has a vagcom and said he'd have a look and try and source a module for me and help me install.

It should under warranty if it still with in the 4 years/ 80,000km which ever come first. Audicare is just the maintenance. It had nothing to do with your warranty. I also live in Canada and lucky I got Audi after care ( extended warranty)

Turns out the guy at service misread my vin or something. They're covering it and a new module got ordered under warranty! The labour I paid is also getting refunded

Service guy made a mistake. New module ordered and is being replaced under warranty and I get my already paid labour refunded! All is swell.

    life is good. congratulations.

sadly someone less diligent than you would have ate that $1100 mistake and taken the "advisor's" word as gospel and been robbed of $1100 and the "professional" would make a nice commission on that. not cool.

(i noticed i made a typo... in the parenthesis above it should state "not audicare". this is a warranty claim not routine maintenance through audicare.)
