    New 2016 A4 suspension noise???

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey all, just picked up my 2016 A4 S-Line a week ago and I am loving it, however this morning driving in my parking garage at work I hear a loud metal rattling noise when going over the joints and when turning left to go up to higher levels in the garage. Sounds like a metal on metal rattling. Car drives fine. Thoughts on what this could possibly be? Brake pads moving, ball joints, CV?? I would not expect that anything major would be wrong on a brand new car....but you never know. Just curious if anyone has experienced anything similar. I cannot hear the noise with the windows up, but just noticed as the weather is starting to get warmer here. Car is scheduled to go in to the dealer tomorrow. Not super happy about that but hoping they can sort it out quickly. Thanks all!!!

That's too bad. I had to take my '16 in to the dealer for a thumping in the back. Turned out to be the bumpstops installed loose on the shock instead of pressed into their little holder in the top. They took quick care of it. Whatever happens let us know more about the sound and what was the culprit for others in the future

I am hoping it is something minor but the sound is definitely embarrassing. Other than the noise the car is great. I have a sneaky suspicion that it is the brake pad and caliper on the front passenger side. I had a 2013 A5 and I seem to remember having a similar issue with that car. Fingers crossed that they figure it out without multiple trips in. It always sucks to have to give up your brand new car after a week for something that will likely be a stupid fix. Hoping they only have it for a day. I will keep you all posted on their findings.

    Just take it in.

I've seen seemingly minor noises on near brand new Audis result in anywhere from 'its normal' to 'we need to replace your engine'.

Haha.....valid point. Just curious if others have experienced the same thing. It's going in tomorrow at 7am . Apparently there is a TSB for front suspension rattle that requires lower control arm replacement so that could be what I'm experiencing. At any rate I'll keep you all posted.

Very nice - congratulations, most likely something minor. Good luck!

Every audi I've owned has produced a kind of loose "tink-tink-tink" sound from the suspension area, even with aftermarket suspension.
I think it has more to do with the dust shields or something in the brakes area.

Yah I just drove the car around on my lunch and it seems to be coming from the rear only on uneven pavement, road joints and bumps and can only be heard with the windows down. Thinking it could be shield around brakes, heat shield underneath or exhaust related. Definitely sounds like something is loose. I'm guessing they will find the issue quickly and resolve it.

Just noticed that yours is a Season of Audi " Special Edition" - what was included as part of that package?

You could get 18's or 19's and the package included piano black optics trim around Windows, navigation plus, heated seats, back up camera, Audi advanced key and S-Line trim. There may be some other stuff I'm missing but that's the bulk of the options.
