The hood release on my 09' RS6 is broken.

Is there any way to get to the latch?

    Any input is appreciated.

    09 RS6, so yummie.....

Sorry no input, got pics? lol

*Usually they break around the plastic latch at the drivers side. You might be able to get some locking pliers to grab the wire and pull it to open the hood..... I think otherwise its gonna be a bitch.

Ummm your garage sounds fantastic. Photos would be greatly appreciated....

In Regards to your stuck latch, I know some guys on the B7 chassis who have had the same problem were able to remove the underbody tray / skid plate, and reach the latching mechanism from below with a stiff wire like a coat hangar. Not sure if this will work in your case as I'm not confident on the engine placement in the RS6.

I think you owe us some photos

Hmm what's the procedure for removing the bumper on the c6 chassis?

Worst case you can cut through the grill to get access but that'll be an expensive fix...

Zero access from below? Not even enough space for a coat hanger?

Yeah, cannot see anything. ali engine. Fans. Radiators. :-/

I will make some further attempts today.

Front bumper: hood must be up, as there are two screws on top, right under the two front lips of the hood.

The positive part is that I dont need to open my hood right now :-) but I will need access sooner or later.... haha....

If possible see if you can disconnect the interior latch completely from the dash and can see the braided hood release wire.

If you disconnect the latch from dash, if wire attached pull on assembly, should release hood. You'll immediately find out if its broken inside cable, at front latch, or just loose@

Never have I seen a hood latch disconnect from the front latch side.

    Some reference pics for you.....

Looks impossible to get at from beneath, and not possible to get at the latch bolts with hood closed.

If you try long enough, with a good flashlight you may get at the latch bolts with something like this:

    Any resolution to this?

    Only mention it because.... yeah..

Everyone seems to have the problem, but only resolutions are for 2004 and older A4s...

For those of you who have not yet had this problem I recommend lubricating the latch. This weekend when I was changing my oil I noticed that the latch was getting very difficult to release. It felt like I was very close to breaking something as I tried to release the hood latch. Once I got it open I sprayed some Silicone lube on the latch mechanism and then worked the release a number of times. After I did the the release worked much easier. Better to lubricated it while the hood still opens and avoid this problem.

Is the cable actually broken? If not, try pressing down on the hood while someone pulls the hood release. I had the same issue occur on my Saab but once I tried applying down pressure on the hood, the latch feed itself and allowed the hood to open. Give it a shot and let us know if it works.

so I'm going through this right now.

put the car back together and obviously didn't attach the cable correctly.
reallyou hope I can do something that isn't too terrible.
My front grill is a crap eBay one so it's cheaper to cut through it than go the dealer

I was able to get my hand between the engine and radiator and use a allen wrench to pop open the latch with the aid of an inspection camera.
But, I now have random motor part numbers embedded into my arm as it was extremely tight.
