So today I started to tackle changing my timing chains, as the drivers side bank one has jumped and now it won't run.
I have removed all the front end, rads, etc. Removed all the loom, injectors, inlet manifolds and rocker covers. All the cams and followers look ok, no damage.
Next step is to pull out the drive shafts, disconnect the prop shaft, turbo exhaust etc. And remove the engine and box as one lump.
Has anyone removed the lump from this before, what's the best plan of attack? Drop the front subframe out onto a skate with the engine and box still attached and then slide out? Hoist out with a crane?
Also is there anything else worth doing while it's all in bits? I'm going to take the heads off and fully decoke the intakes and an EGR delete. Have heard possibly the box mounts and snub mount are worth doing?
Car has just done 170k miles, had a Multitronic gearbox rebuild and new turbo not long ago.
Any help appreciated!
Cheers,
Oli
