issue with gas tank?

So recently i have been having an issue where i start to fill my tank and about 5 seconds into filling it, it disengages and stops filling. It's very sporadic, but today it did it literally every 5 seconds. Even with me holding the trigger. Anyone else experience this? Fix?

Are you sure its not the pump itself? At this one gas station I go to, there is one pump that does exactly what you are describing.

Wow! Holy shit, I did a quick search and found numerous threads that date back to at least 2010 that it is more than likely your evap canister.

Yup, this right here. If you "top off" (overfill) the tank frequently it will back up into the canister and clog up the charcoal filter, which will prevent the tank from venting while you're filling up. I think that there is an actual factory part number for a hose to just delete the canister all together. Or you can take it apart and try to clean it, which seems like a royal PITA.

Good info, I was told that someone tried to siphon my tank and jacked it up, this makes better sense
