Where do you service your car?

Hi all - I recently purchased a 2015 MT S4. It has almost 3 years of original warranty left on it, and I'm pretty sure I will hit the year limit before the mileage. This is my first performance vehicle and first German car. Up until now, I have always taken my car to a independent mechanic who I have used for years and trust - but I don't think he's the right person to service this car.

I'm wondering where most people take their car for different types of issues? If anything is actually wrong with the car, and it's still under warranty, I imagine I should take it to the dealer. But what about things like oil changes? Or putting in new breaks, or changing wheels, etc? What about other regular types of maintenance? Should I find a German car technician, or should I also take it to the dealer for issues like this that are not covered by the warranty? I want the best service for my car, but I also don't want to get raped on the price.

Curious to see what others here do.

    Thanks!

Find a good local indie VW/Audi shop; they should know what needs to be done at the specified intervals, and use the correct parts/fluids. Save all your receipts and you are fine regarding warranty claims. Go on AZ's regional forum for recommendations.

You can certainly go back to the dealer for regular maintenance but it will be expensive.

Combination of dealer and independent shop. Obviously if it is a warranty item I take it to the dealer. Otherwise I prefer independent shops for the level of attention they provide.

+1, most dealerships are much more expensive then independent shops. If you know a reputable shop that you trust, go with them for non-warranty items.

You're in NY. Take your car to EuroTech in Mahwah, NJ. Stay far away form the dealer if you care about your car. They suck and will put entry level techs on your oil change. If you have a major warranty issue then ok, take it there. But for small stuff, take it to Eurotech. Unless you're like all the way up in Albany or something then the drive is too long lol. But yea, www.eurotechms.com

I use my local Audi dealership. I may look for a local Euro shop next time, but my one scheduled visit was at my local place.

My Audi dealership is very mod friendly. They've done my scheduled maintenance as well as many of my mods. Their rates tend to be very competitive when I do shop them. There are a few other very good indi shops around town I'd use as well but often they are just as expensive and don't offer a loaner etc...

My garage...seriously if you have the space (doesn't require much) and some mechanical ability, it's always best doing the work yourself. You learn the ins and outs of your car and you know its done right.

Seriously something that I've noticed with a few shops that advertise on this site - They are not much cheaper than the dealer and I always get a loaner from the dealer. Working with my SA's i typically can get the price down quite a bit which generally puts it in line with the typical indie shops.
Life has taught me never try to make something idiot proof, they'll simply come up with a better idiot.
I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong.
I have neither the time, nor the crayons to explain this to you properly.
