Looking to upgrade grill to RS4 mesh style grill

Ive been searching and there seems to be some conflicting info both on ebay and on a few threads. I have a 2008 A4 Sline. Do i need to custom make the RS4 grill for my car or can i just buy one off eBay?

I have the same exact model & trim. No you don't have to custom make the grill unless you want to eliminate the filler plate. You do have to buy an actual RS4 grill though. Most eBay grills will not fit our cars because our grills are 30 mm longer than a standard A4. Looking for this type of grill typical runs you $400-600 new.

I'm guessing the custom RS4 eBay mod you're thinking of is exactly the one mentioned, where you buy an RS6 grille(which has no filler plate, full mesh grille) cut the mesh out, cut out the inner part of your A4 grille and attach the RS6 mesh into your A4 grille surround.

Then again, maybe you can do that with your filler plate intact as well; buy the eBay RS6 grille, cut mesh out, then cut your A4 grille above and below your filler plate and attach the RS6 mesh to it? My S4 grille is in the classifieds(which will fit right into your bumper) if you don't want to cut up your OEM grille but have an extra one to chop up.

If anything the key would be to search through eBay for RS4 grilles that fit A4 S-line models.

Most people do an RS6 grille on the standard trim. Just the grille, not the whole part. I've heard the grille is 150$ and should look like this ^^

There's no way around it at all. Either fork out at least $400 for a new RS4 grill or stick with what you have. Anything else doesn't have the right dimensions. It's only 30mm but that's why you have to be very careful when purchasing.
