    wheel choice... Vorsteiner or Rohana

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So, I have a 2012 S5 in the white. I want to go with the RS5 replica grill and paint the badges either matte or gloss black. Probably gloss to match the grill?

Anyways, looking at two different wheels...

Option #1: Vorsteiner VFF103 in graphite 20" wrapped probably with either Bstone RE760S or Hankook EVOII

Option #2: Rohana RC10 Matte Graphite with Gloss Black lip 20" wrapped the same.

Saw a guy on here selling the Rohanas in silver and just think that wheel looks classy and aggressive. But the Vorsteiner wheel is pure beauty and obviously lighter. The only issue is finding pics of white S5s with both wheels... Also, I want to get an exhaust and that extra savings for the Rohanas over the Vorsteiner can get me into that also...

Dunno. I know it is my decision, but maybe input on these wheels and even if someone has either in a white S5...

Oh! I will be getting the H&R Springs also...

Vorsteiner is in a whole different class. You're comparing a flow forged wheel with a cast wheel. If all you care about us the looks then perhaps that doesn't matter, but personally I like the looks of the VFF103s better

Please consider the value of lightweight wheels. The VFF 103s are a performance mod and a cosmetic mod. My 20x10 VFF 103s weigh 23.6lbs. With MSS 285s the total weight is 51lbs; about 7lbs lighter than stock. Believe it or not this is huge. (Yes, if I was really that concerned I should have gone with 19s, but this is the better of both worlds.)

I am also running H&R coils and H&R sways. I installed the coils and sways a few months before the wheels. The car was noticably tighter and pushed less, but it would sometimes get nervous over bumps at high speed while accelerating. AKA: exactly the worst time to lose confidence in your suspension. I was planning to try a different set up, but I couldn't wait for wheels so I bought the VFF 103s first. The differnce is night and day! The car is glued to the road now at any speed. The set up is perfect. I'm lucky I mounted the wheels before changing the coils.

I will admit that the stearing wheel lightend up slightly after mounting the VFF103s. Not terrible, but I noticed it. I can't explain this. I thought the added width of the tires would have enhanced steering feel. Later I added a strut tower brace that brought feeling back.

While I'm confessing, I also regret the 285s. My antilock brakes don't like them. I will replace with 275s when these wear out.

Also, you can save money by purchasing an AWE track exhaust (or whatever you decide to buy) used in the classifieds. Exhausts are not typically a wear item and should function as well as new.
