Car won't start after fixing MAF sensor wiring

After I installed a new PCV diaphragm and fixed MAF sensor wiring the car won't start. The electronics work like the dash lights up and MMI works but the car doesn't start.

Also my scanner won't read codes or even scan.

I was fixing the wiring for the MAF sensor. I used one of those wiring testers that you touch a wire and it lights up if there is a current. Not sure why that would be an issue. Doesn't seem that the PCV install would cause an electrical problem so it has to be the wiring I worked on.

Anyone know what the issue is?

What sort of wiring repair did you do? Is it possible you mixed up some wires? Try unplugging the maf and see if it starts. I'd also be checking fuses if you can't connect a diagnostic tool

I was going to say the same, check all your fuses and double check your wiring.

I had to cut the wiring for the MAF sensor. I went to a junk yard and cut some wiring off an A4 and attached the wires back. I tried soldering but the damn wires are so small the solder wouldn't stick.

I just twisted the wires and put electrical tape to cover the wires.

I read some threads and fired some fuses might have blown when testing the wiring.

I'll have to test the fuses next.

I checked all fuses and they are all good. I also checked the MAF sensor and the car still won't start.

Twisting and taping will work itself loose. I'd get some high quality wire connectors or a generic harness connector to make sure the signals are passing well. Those MAF wires are freaking tiny. I had a hard time soldering one for my water/meth signal.

Did you use flux on the wires prior to soldering. It helps clean off oxidation and prep for solder. Also clean with isopropyl alcohol when done so the flux doesn't attract dirt and it removes chemicals to pH balance it.
It should start without the maf even connected. I an worried by not using a proper Multimeter you may have damaged your ECU.While power out lines may be fused, signal return lines are not.

You can buy soldering butt connectors to use which work great. Twisting and taping is not sufficient. I used soldering butt connectors on mine and it works fine now. I staggered them so I could tape the harness back up and not have it look stupid bulky and out of place.

As said disconnect the maf and check fuses and report back on if it works.

I checked all of my fuses and they are all fine. I think the issue has something to do with the ECM. The car would start fine before when I had the MAF sensor wire disconnected and now it won't even start.

The MAF wiring was shorting and blowing the MAF fuse. Ended up connecting the wires using butt connectors and fixed the short. Cars purring like a kitten.

Hey beats I hope your car is fine by now, I had the same issue basically I unplugged my MAF and forgot to plug it back in, it melted and the wires were exposed. The wires touched each other while I was driving and it did blow a fuse near the CPU, as I’m sure you know there are many fuses in the car but the one it blew was a special one. Anyways my car is in the shop for a couple more days and it is only about a $400 fix.

I forgot to mention this, if the car won’t give you any codes you most likely fried the cpu.

I'm assuming they're going to utilize the special Audi harness repair connectors to repair the melted wires, not regular solder.

It’s possible the just remove the wires with the connector and replace them both.
