    Those who have run 20" wheels

    I know this is a slightly heated debate; "handling this and handling that". But to those who have actually run 20" wheels and 19"s on their cars, was there actually a big difference? I know weight is a factor but I'd like to finally squash this debate as I am trying to decide between the two. I really like the look of 20" sitting under the wide arches but if there is a tangible performance loss I'm out.

    I've heard for performance, you want the smallest/lightest wheel, and not the other way around. When I read the suspension/tire set up for track, I saw many running 18's over 19's.

    18 for track, 19 for street, 20 for picking up chica's.

    I have run both. Avant Garde M310 for the 19" and BBS CH-R for the 20". I prefer the 19". My car is lowered and it seemed that the suspension wasn't as good at keeping the 20" under control. They would rub more when hitting bumps, especially large bumps on the freeway. The overall diameter and offset was the same with both setups so the 20" shouldn't have rubbed any more. I am assuming it is a result of the higher unsprung weight.

    What's the debate? 19's come stock so not sure what you're asking?

    I know 19"s come stock...I maybe should have phrased the thread a little better. I was asking for a comparison between the two diameters and how people felt running 20s. I understand 18s would be best for track specific use, but on the street I also do not want to throw handling and ride quality by the way side for looks. I know there is a thread or two out there about this but wanted more input than what was available.

    Depends on your style. If you're more of the performance driving type then stick with 19. If you want to sacrifice a little bit of performance for better looks then go with 20.

    And for ultimate performance go for the 18" that was the standard fit on the B7 RS4 in most of Europe (except the UK).
