    Thumbs up Best exhaust system

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm currently looking for a new exhaust system for my S4. I prefer the non-resonated sound.

Just wanted to ask the community what are the best "bang for your buck" cat back systems out there?

    thanks

    IMO AWE Touring.

That said, I can't see buying any of them for the prices they are asking given there's near zero gain except sound.

Can't go wrong with AWE. Probably most popular option. Other solid ones are Borla and Milltek. Really comes down to personal preference honestly

Thank you all for your replies. I've heard mixed reviews on the CTS. I do like the AWE and Borla is a new contender for sure!

You can save huge $$ if you buy the mufflers (magnaflow, borla, etc.) and have a good shop install them with 2.5" piping.

I did a full magnaflow system, mufflers and resonated x pipe, and tips for less than 600.

I did a side-by-side before buying mine. The Milltek is more of a higher pitch, "European," sound. AWE is a throatier, more "American" note. Both sound good, and either is good for 5-8 hp, so it really boils down to personal preference. Haven't listened to Borla on the S4, but literally every other aftermarket exhaust system I've ever owned has been a Borla...love that company.

Total n00b question, but will someone please tell me if I am correct in thinking resonated = has resonators = muffled a bit more? Or explain further for me if I am wrong?

I've been debating about exhaust also, but to me this is one upgrade I don't see myself doing. Our cars are relatively quiet, but I think they have a nice deep growl. From what I've read on exhaust systems there is no real HP increase, so it's all for your own pleasure or that of those around you, but it also draws attention to you. On a V6, even the throaty exhaust systems still sound like upscale rice to me (IMHO), but that could also be because I'm hearing it on crappy computer speakers and not in person. Not hating at all, but for the price, I could think of better upgrades.

I would say it is exactly 100% the opposite, AWE has a more "eagle's scream of death" while Milltek is more like "Angry Cthulu awakening". They both sound great but Milltek is most definitely more "throaty" in my opinion.

I'm surprised nobody ever mentions a Corsa exhaust. I still haven't really heard one on an S4 yet, but I always used them for my trucks. Nice deep sound on wide open throttle and no drone inside the cabin. There's only like 2 YouTube videos out there, kind of disappointing.
