Kookie's Glacier White S3 Build

Hello Gang,

Recently moved to the LA area from San Francisco, decided the B7 S4 Avant was getting a bit long in the tooth and probably too thirsty for these commutes. I started searching for a new '15, or '16 Glacier White S3(with all options) and found an awesome local selection, and even almost pulled the trigger on a car from Mckenna on Firestone.

The same day, I get a call from a friend in my hometown who happens to work at Strong Audi in Salt Lake City, letting me know they got a CPO 2015 with less than 12k miles, employee lease return and it was his colleague who had babied the car. The price and warranty were unbeatable, so I ditched my delusions of needing LED headlights. This became ultra convenient now, because another close friend was set and ready to purchase the B7 in SLC! So I drove the B7 out, straight to Strong Audi where I sold my car, and purchased the Glacier White S3. Drove it home the next day, and for nine hours, fell completely in love. Gotta love it when a plan comes together!

I told myself I was going to enjoy the stock power for at least the first few months.

That lasted all of 8 days. Emmanuele Design is installing the following today (Feb 26th):

What they offer you on the one in McKenna, they were giving me a SOLID deal. Unfortunately it was a few weeks late as I bought some stuff for my 8P A3, and bought a 1953 Velocette MAC 350 motorcycle as a side project.

Killer deal on that new Glacier White 2015 - Black Optics and LED Lights/ B&O - they want it out bad because it's a 15. If this one didn't have the 100k warranty, i would have scooped that one up no question.

I'm doing well, how about yourself? Didn't think you'd remember me haha it's been a while! I try to avoid the Avant's Only section so I don't get heartache (I'm constantly scheming how I can get another B5 S4 Avant) and I avoid the Wheel Thread so I don't get antsy for wheels and make a poor financial decision

Curious to hear impressions on the ride with the new springs.

Ride is top notch. I plowed through the 5/405/605 in varying conditions from stop and go, to 80 mph of flowing traffic. In usual (shit) LA traffic, it did phenomenal. Handling, not surprisingly is better, but what blew me away was the ride. It's definitely more confident and comfortable than stock. Not sure how to explain, but the bottom line is this... The car is just more settled and contours to the road more without sacrificing feel.

I'm very happy with all aspects of these springs. Zero compromise, and a better ride...

UPDATE: Went ahead had Emmanuele Design install the HG-Motorsport intercooler and paired it with the GIAC Stage 2 tune. The tune is strong when driven aggressively, otherwise pretty good. I'm waiting to hear back on some drivability questions i have, GIAC has responded positively.

The car is blazing quick now. It's amazing without trying, how quickly you can get up to 100 going around some traffic. Still getting used to it, but it feels amazing in comparison to just the JB1 and without the intercooler.

Doing an oil change tomorrow then I'll do some pulls and report back. :)

Well Stage 2 is amazing, plenty of power for the street.. for now. Some stuff in the works down the line.

Hey, how do you like the HG-M CAI? Is it super load? It has a pretty cool, unique sound to it. But I'm afraid I'd get tired of hearing it. I'm also surprised more folks don't have it. Quite frankly, it's one of the better bargains when compared to the "top dogs" - you get CF intake housing and all of the plumbing for $500. APR is like $600 (CAI & TIP separate items). AWE is also $600 - just a carbon box without any complimentary plumbing. Uni is $500 - comparable to HG-M in terms of the whole package.

I'm interested in hearing your thoughts/review.

I was in the same boat. None of the those options appealed to me either. I got to see the HG in person and liked it, also showed good results at the track on another stage 2 car near me. That was enough for me to go with it

I would consider this intake quiet. You can definitely hear the whistle of the spool and the rush of airflow at boost. Otherwise it's fairly moderate and drowned out by normal driving outside, definitely not prevalent or annoying, just fun when you gas it.

Not sure why more don't use it, it is a great package for a fair price.

wow its quite crazy what a lip, wheels, drop and spacers will do aesthetically, I'm drooling, i recently just picked up a sepang blue and I'm loving the S3 in stock form ( gotta intake but that doesnt count ) can't wait to start throwing stuff at her, But wow those wheels clash so well with the white.

Yeah! Report back in the S3 wheel thread, I'm curious to hear how 255 with et43 will fit.

Worth noting, I've seen the 255/30/19 fit PERFECT on 9.5 et40, no rubbing even all the way down
