So I'm a little confused on exactly which headlight bulbs I need. Is it HID or Halogen?? and would I be better off going with Osram, Philips, or Sylvania if it's halogen.

OP, how the heck should we know? We don't know what your car looks like. Throw up some pics so we can tell you. Pro tip: if they have a projector lens, then you have HID's. Otherwise, they are halogens.

Generally more information the better, year and model etc at a minimum, pics of your headlights would help as well since the cars could be equipped with either depending on the model.

+1 on this. Simply look at your housing...if you have a ballast on it, you have HID, if not, you have halogen. Oh and this should help: C6 HID Bulb replacement/

Take a look at your window sticker if you have it. Or take your VIN to a look up site

For ANY bulbs, those brands you listed would be best. There are other good brands, but those are worry free performance.

If your headlight looks just like your drl, then you'd have halogen. If it looks completely different, hid

Yes they did. My car has halogens. They were standard equipment in the "Premium" trim level of cars.

Just to add to this, I replaced my bulbs a few days ago with Morimoto XB 5500 K (D3S) in my 2009 and they are pure secks. The color is perfect, I would not want them any bluer and I couldn't ask for any whiter. Seriously made my old HID bulbs look like some strong halogens.

Are you sure it was D3S and not D2S?
How have your bulbs held up so far?

Both of my cars have the 5,000 bulb from Phillips and it's perfect white. Bulbs from 5k-5500k I think are the perfect spectrum of pure white. I love them too!
