Anyone have their heat shield rub on the drive shaft after installing their UBQ brace

I'm 85% positive that's the sound I'm hearing. I'll get the car on jacks Sat. morning to investigate more deeply, but was finally able hear it distinctly coming from the center of the car and is variable with speed. I thought maybe a fender liner or something broke loose and was rubbing a tire, but it's not. No rub on any tire. I recently installed it. My theory is that when I torqued it down the heat shield shifted slightly and as the car has settled with some hard driving it's shifted the shield every so slightly to touch. The sound wasn't there immediately after the install.

What kind of sound is it? Is it like a vibration?

No vibration, just a rubbing sound that varies with speed as you would expect from the type of noise I'm hearing. It sounds like rubbing against a fender wheel, but a similar sound could be from the heat shield. I know it's not in the wheel wells.

Didn't perceive this till driving around at lunch, but the rubbing noise only occurs off throttle. During an acceleration it can't be heard even light acceleration.

Some of the same mounting points underneath on the X brace are the same as the carrier bearing. Double check those forward bolts and also the heat shielding to see if some of those "push nuts" are tight. I found some that were loose and snugged them up.

Thanks for the feedback, headed to the garage to jack it up and check it out this morning.

That was the issue, I had to trim heat shield material away. When I pulled the ubq it was clear as day the shield around the front mounting points had been pushed up. When I tapped on the heat shield with brace on before correcting it, the heat shield was clearly flush against the carrier. I'll attach a pic of the heat shield I trimmed away. I didn't want to put that additional spacer on for clearance reasons and the threads on the stock hardware wouldn't be very deep.

unibrace never actually tested the kit on an a3/s3. even though they happily sell it to us advertised for a3/s3. they left the job of testing to forum members.
