Vagcom to block foglight error message?

    Hey gents,

Posted this in the Q3/Q5/Q7 forum but just heard crickets...I don't think a lot of those guys do much in vcds. Maybe my 'home' forum has some insight?? Not sure how much these types of modules/bytes are similar across VAG models...

Anyway, I just got some LED fogs for my wife's Q7 and I got ones without resistors so I'm getting the bulb error - the fogs were a good color temp and super cheap so I figured I'd just use vagcom to block the errors.

From the research I've done it looks like it could be in module 09 (cent. elect.), byte 18? I'm hoping an A5/S5 owner has done this and can let me know which bit(s) to toggle?

    Huge thanks in advance!

im not sure if its going to work. the issue I would think is, if u clear it out initially, it will just come back the next time u start it up. if this was ever done, it would of solved a lot of problems since 2008 lol

hmmm good point bknew, agree that it would just come back if I cleared the error. But I'm looking to find the way to recode the computer to make it as if there were NO fog lights on the car so that it wouldn't "see" that there's a bulb out.

I'd imagine there are guys with A5/S5's who got the aftermarket RS5-style body kits who would need to do this, since they're replacing the bumper and deleting the fogs...

I'll poke around this weekend and see what I can find out.

I think it would be different to "delete" the fog through VAG than to make it accept an LED wattage. I think a resistor might be your only option. You could add one inline if you don't want to purchase new bulbs.

Yeah I'll just get new bulbs if I can't figure it out in vcds. I'm convinced there's a way to disable them though - just like folding mirrors or the power rear spoiler, I'd think that the presence of fog lights would be something that could be toggled "installed/not installed". I'll do some serious googling and look around in vcds a bit to see what I can find. Finding this was my inspiration - yes it's not a Q7 or even an Audi, but it is in the VAG, enough to make me wonder...

We add the canbus error delete to completely clear out the error, which is the same thing as adding a resistor
