    Q5-21012 difference in brakes

    Hello
Has anyone noticed a huge difference between the factory installed brake pads and rotors and the dealership installed replacement?
I just had my 2012 Q5 Prestige 3.2 brakes replaced at the dealer 31,000 miles. When I picked it up the brake pedal went nearly to the floor and the braking distance seemed to be half again as long.
I understand what everyone is saying regarding brake dust if you are referring to the cheap, soft pads the dealer puts on.
I checked the part numbers with Audi and they match however, there is NO similarity between my old "worn out" pads and rotors from the factory, and the Audi dealer installed.
    I am furious.
The service manager gave lip service about," Oh the new rotors are so smooth they don't stop as well" to "Oh, several other customers have said the same thing and I just tell them to drive it for a while and they never come back." SERIOUSLY! The reason they don't come back is you can get better pads at CHECKER!!!!

If anyone can please tell me that this is an anomolie and I will escalate to Audi NM, otherwise I will just be mad everytime I drive until it needs new pads that certainly won't be factory!

    thanks in advance Queen Q

I can't speak to your exact situation since I haven't driven the car, but there is definitely a "wear in" or break in period of ~50 to a couple hundred miles (depending on your drive, pad material, rotor finish...) where pads and rotors are bedding in and seating themselves. Feel/bite may be different and stopping power is usually somewhat reduced as well, and you usually want to avoid hard stops if possible during this time too. By far the best way to insure good seating and best performance is to properly bed the brakes:

An alternative article i recently came across is trying to do the same thing under more normal drive conditions:

Bottom line is -- unless you've given them some time and/or properly bedded them, you can't really judge anything. If after that you still have issues, then it's time to go back to the dealer, but I suspect you'll find improvement by then
    Hope this helps
