    I have a 06 A4 2.0T I was driving to gas station a mile away and from the start pulling out the car was acting weird, there was no power to accelerate I had to put the gas to the floor to just go the speed limit. It was very weird it had no power but the electronics were all fine. The engine was making a loud sound that day anyway I was almost home and the car just shut off while driving a half mile from my house and would not turn back over. I've been trying to figure out what the problem is. I have the video here so you can hear it try to start any help would be really appreciated, new to the zine but had my Audi for about 4 years now, can't wait to have her up an going

    are you sure its the timing belt not the serpentine belt ? the serpentine belt runs the ac compressor, the power steering pump etc. Once you get that off you have to remove the cover to the timing belt and inspect that one.

    let us know.
    if you are not sure how to do this you may have to get it towed to a shop.

    My timing belt is still intact and turns when I try to start the car, the timing belt is in front of the engine right it has a small tirangular case you can take off and see the top pully and belt? Where is serpentine belt located?

    The serpentine belt is at the very front , then the timing bely behind that , if your timing belt is in good shape then I would think that is good news, but that sound sure does sound like metal on metal banging.

    the only other thing i can think of would be tensioner failure resulting in chain failure between the two cams , not common but that banging sound is unnerving.

    Sounds like you know how to remove that top cover for the t-belt. Take that off, then look down at the damper pulley. With a big socket (I think it's a 36mm) you can turn the crank and get the damper pulley to hit it's mark on the black cover behind it.

    Then find mark on the exhaust cam and it should be lined up as shown below. Yours will probably not have white paint on them (stole these from Phil's DIY), but you'll see them. If the cam isn't on it's mark when the damper pulley is, your timing has jumped and that sound is valve(s) hitting piston(s). Head's gotta come off.
