    Weird gasping sound under WOT

    I noticed that under WOT I am hearing several quick short gasping sounds at peak boost. It almost sounds like an air leak near the intake and intake is gasping for short quick breathes of air. It doesn't happen when I'm off throttle only when on throttle and under high levels of boost.

    Any thoughts on what I might check?

    I haven't run a boost leak and there might be a tiny gap between test pipe and turbo exhaust but I cant tighten the test pipe on any further.

    Could it be my DV, boost leak, exhaust leak or N75?

    I have a stronger spring for my DV and shims. Looked at the intake and it seems tight. Tightened all my turbo bolts, checked IC hoses and searched for cracks. Nothing. Haven't run a boost leak test yet.

    If you have any insight please let me know, I have a feeling the boost leak test will solve it. But am worried it's some bolt on.

    Changed out my diverter valve. There was a blown o ring in it. Replaced with 710N. Problem seems to have disappeared.

    Problem still persists with 710n DV. Sound comes from near intake. I have built a boost leak tester and will try that asap. Please throw out any theories if you have them!

    No one cares but the turbo exhaust gasket was blown out. I replaced that with the oem like gasket that has a metal ring on the inside. It is made by felpro and I got it at Autozone for $7. I was at the dealer and their $26 gasket looks exactly the same. My boost leak tester piping wasn't quite the correct OD to fit the ID of my FT TIP. Building a new one ASAP to boost leak test as well. I'm hoping everything else is nice and tight.

    Glad you solved it. For future reference if its a DV issue it will usually throw a code. My 1.8t did until I got my Forge replacement at least...

    I don't think that actually fixed it. It may be the foam filter on my Carbonio CAI. I still need to boost leak test as well. I haven't been able to stand on the pedal yet since replacing the gasket.

    Sorry to hear that man. A gasping sound does seem to indicate an intake side leak though, boost side is more of a hissing sound. Good luck!

    Keep posting updates. I'm watching your thread.
    Also maybe run through all your check valves and make sure they flow one way and are blocked the other. I'm thinking on this though to try and help

    It was a broken check valve near the intake.
