There is a good post on an oil change in the B8 S4 forum but the pictures did not load and I am using an oil extractor instead of the drain plug method so I figured I would post this here. It should be the pretty much the same process for any car that has this 3.0T engine.
DISCLAIMER: DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME. FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY.
The engine is warm and the rear of the vehicle is higher than the front. Car is in park and off.
Image 1 From the top of the image to the bottom:
1. Loosen oil filter but do not remove yet.
2. Open and remove oil filler cap.
3. Remove dipstick cover and insert oil extractor.
4. Open the valve to begin removing oil.
Image 2 From top to bottom:
5. While waiting for the oil to be sucked out, remove the oil filter housing by turning wrench counter-clockwise
6. Pull out the filter housing and have rags ready for the dripping.
7. Pull the cartridge filter from the housing.
8. Inside the filter housing, Pull out the fat rubber seal with needle nose pliers.
9. Around the neck of where the housing connects to the car, pull out the thin rubber seal with needle nose pliers.
Not pictured:
10. Replace both seals with new ones that come with the new filter.
11. Replace the filter with a new one.
12. When oil extractor is done, close valve and remove air line.
13. Reinstall filter housing with new filter and seal, tighten to the spec listed on the housing.
14. Add oil in the filler hole. My car needed 7 quarts to reach a satisfactory level. Using 6.5 quarts still showed low.
15. Reinstall dipstick plug.
16. Check everything is tight, clean up any mess, and start the car. Let it warm up. It will take a few minutes (MORE THAN TWO) to see your oil level on the screen.
17. Empty old oil into a safe container. Pep boys and the like will dispose of it for free.
Optional- Use vagcom to reset your service due reminder
It sounds like a lot of steps but it is pretty quick, the longest part was waiting for all the oil to be pulled.
