Audi's new headlights look awesome. Will be a great upgrade from the adaptive lights. Curious when these will be available at a justifiable purchase price

Matrix LED tech has been in audis for a little while now. unfortunately it doesn't meet our safety standards for whatever ridiculous reason (similar to the sweeping indicators). that could change though

i actually researched this a few years ago when the laser beams were coming out and the DOT legislation is written that a US automobile must have a high and a low beam that is changed via "switch". The next line was "there are no plans to revisit this in the future" I love that we have a law written in the 1960's that wont be revisited, gotta love the gov't

only if you pay someone to pass your changes through the senate. that's how this country works. you pay money to have the bills you want passed. #murka

Ya but how it moves to not blind other drivers and it flashes to highlight bikers/pedestrians is very cool. Heavy price tag but seeing a lot more vehicles in Canada - new mercedes, new bmw and acura have adopted a similar style light. Not just 1 xenon bulb anymore. The BMW I5 or whatever the electric sub motor has them and some of the higher end audis like you said.

We have highway traffic act laws suggesting no more than 6 lights in the headlights. These are all old legislation like yours are.

seems like these are the way of the future. Been looking more into the tech. recently and am really attracted to it.

This is big money for lights but brings the guys who live in the e-code world to a whole new level.
Cant justify the $ to loose the orange corners because it doesnt bother me.
Could spend the $ if Matrix LED was avail for B8.5 Q5

its a baller tech for sure. mercedes has the best though. was riding in a S63 coupe and holy balls. the night vision is so good you can literally drive that car with the lights off at night. highlights all moving /living things too in red on the screen. pretty nuts.

The US DOT also has max limitation on the output as well that a lot of the new LED and Laser headlights surpass. As said, archaic laws that should have been revisited and changed at least around 2010 which was 50 years after the original law was written.
